Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

This rum is for those who like dry rums. Intriguing bottle.
One word fits this rum, BLAH! I like the 7yr but it's a hard find. The list is $42 & I found it at $36 so, Hey why not? Again BLAH!
The smell is promising but the alcohol just overpowers the taste, Shame could be a solid rum.
Looking to start my rum journey and this was ton offer so I took the plunge, a noticeable step up from a basic rum but not quite as sweet as I would like.
It’s good, it has a long lingering aftertaste but just a little too much toasted coconut on it. All in all a solid rum.
La couleur très brune m’a fait penser a un spicy mais son côté mielé lui apporte une douceur incroyable. A la fois très agréable et très complexe
This was probably one of the first nicer rums I purchased. As a tiki hobbyist, the Zombie recipe does call for a Column Still Aged rum and this one fit the bill. For that purpose, I find it to do quite well.
I do not find a ton of complexity in this rum but I also feel like that is more on my untrained, newer, palette than on the rum. Strongest note for me is that of brown sugar.
Update: As I have continued my rum journey, I find this rum to really be lacking. I think I originally gave it the 7 based on the age statement and having little comparison. Nowadays it just seems to lack the character I expect of a 12 and the mouth feel is super thin. Kind of a disappointment.
I'm with the group that doesn't get the high raters.
This rum shows nicely, bottle and color but that's where it ends.
The trend to woo whiskey drinkers by by aging in over burnt casks causes this rum to have a strong ashy flavor. The next morning it was like I was kissing an ashtray, I had to eat a half a tin of Altoids to over come it. When I think on the 25 they offer that is awesome, I can't understand why they would offer this.
I drink neat most of the time, I tired to save it by mixing down with sparkling water and lime but to no avail.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Lacking in almost every aspect. Diluted flavour. A bit sweet. Ok for sipping, but won’t be a tremendous experience.
