Nicaragua | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
A sugar-free 12-year old, ultra premium rum that is sustainably produced (Carbon Neutral & Fair Trade certified). From a 5th generation family estate, it is naturally aged without artificial ingredients, distilled 100% with renewable energy and KOSHER certified. A full-bodied rum with a long and smooth finish that lingers in the palate. Best enjoyed in a Rum Old Fashioned or with a splash of premium sparkling water or ginger ale and an orange twist.

This is is decent rum. It’s very woody on the palate. It’s a solid value aged column still that’s widely available. It’s definitely not a sweet rum, which is nice to see in the world of dosed Spanish heritage rums.
K dobrému hodnocení přispívá i příjemná cena.
It is okay. Nothing near the 130th anniversary of course. Decent, respectable, no-nonsense rum, yet it lacks a bold profile and a unique pallette. Was expecting something more out of it, with the reputation of Flor de Cana and whatnot, something much more memorable. I wonder if i should try their 18 or 25, next! This is a brand i can respect.
Barely noticeable flavors of caramel and vanilla. Plus some oak.
Watery as hell, even after a month being open. Guess I'll let it breathe some more.
I tried the Flor de Cana 7 year not long ago and was not very impressed and my first impression of this 12 year was also not so good. But after adding ice and getting about 1/4 of the way through the bottle (not at one time) I am absolutely not disappointed. The trick was putting it on the rocks. It really mellowed and smoothed itself out after adding some ice. Not overly sweet but definite vanilla and caramel taste and with ice the harshness was cut down considerably. I have had room temperature bottom shelf vodkas that were not as harsh as this was neat. But on the rocks this rum is well balanced and the price point was also right well under $40.
I cannot recommend this rum. It's a bit boring, no complex, no evolution. I can't find the balance in the mouth and nose of a 12-year-old rum. The aftertaste of it is short and alcoholic, I was happy to finish the bottle
You can honestly find much better rums for this price.
'smooth and full of fruit and nut flavors'
"Flor de Cana 12-Year rum review by The Ultimate Rum Guide"
There is very little astringency or “booze” noted in the nose.
"A sip reveals a very smooth yet spicy rum. There is very little burn it tingles on the lips and tongue for a long time. It is a long finish."

I've been drinking Flor18 for 13+yrs, but read the reviews about the 12 & went for it.
Overall not bad but I'll be sticking with my Flor18. The 12 is too alcoholy but did mix well.
