Good marketing. Slow aged for 18 years. Probably this 18 years last for longer time :-) But seriously, good taste, little bit sweet than expected. Second and next swallow are only better and better.

Flor de Caña Nicaraguan Rum 18 years is one of my favorite rums to sip on. The flavor and aroma are truly exquisite. It tastes amazing straight, on the rocks, or mixed in drinks like coke and a splash of lime juice.

Probably more appropriate for sipping than the 12 yr, but not far off.

I like this rum.
At twice the price of the Gran Reserve 7-yr, I'm not sure the cost is warranted but it IS much smoother in the mouth than the 7-yr so more sippable overall. I was disappointed upon the initial tasting expecting more complexity from a $50 rum. Smooth but unremarkable like most of Flor de Cana's output.
This was a good treat! Really good rhum to sip with dryied fruits. But it really change the taste pallet with a really mild cheese!

I've seen the same review at least twice here, but I feel the same way about this rum, so I'll quote it:
"An okay sipping rum as long as you let it breathe. Not the best flavor at first but decent vanilla, oak and toffee flavors aftertaste and finish."
