Flor de Caña 18-Year

Expected more from a $50 bottle. More bourbon like than rummish, fairly thin, didn't get much caramel, vanilla or typical rich sweetness. Had to try but not again for me

Purchased a sample from Master of Malt for about £8.

Nose is sweet and inviting. Toasted marshmallow and toffee come through, with some choco nutty notes. Wonderfully smooth rich and complex with a long smooth finish, caramel and chocolate compliment the palate. This is a fantastic rum!

This was just ... okay. Found the 12 yr old much more to my liking. Expected more and came away disappointed that it didn’t distinguish itself more from its younger brother.

Strong rum, both in flavor and strength. Great with a cigar!

The Flor de canas are a bit sharp in the flavour, but pure and good.

This one is more round in the flavours though.

No ethanol in aroma and taste. More drier with wooden tones in aftertaste.

Full body taste, light sweet, beautiful on the nose. smooth aftertaste.

Smooth yet not too sweet. Shows itself best when simply served on ice. Not a big difference from the 12 year so not worth the increased price.

Asi je to tím, že jsem začátečník ve světě rumu, ale tohle opravdu není pro mě. Byl jsem dlouholetý a velký fanoušek whisky a bourbonu a pak jsem ochutnal rum a jakoby se mi otevřel nový rozměr, tolik chutí ! Ale tento rum by pro mě byl něco jako krok zpět (který možná někdy udělám, ale ne teď). Nádherná plochá hranatá láhev. V krabici byla s lahví i kniha poezie z celého světa. 49 básníků ze 38 zemí a v 16 jazycích, která jakoby spojuje lidi podobně jako rum. Flor de Cana zraje v sudech po bourbonu a protože v nich ležel osmnáct let, tak se změnil na bourbon. Chuťově je to bourbon. Silné lihové aroma, které se zmírní, když nechám sklenici tak dvacet minut stát, ale stejně nenacházím nic zajímavého, žádná krásná vůně, chvíli jsem cítil i záblesk tuzemáku (nedělám si prdel) a ani chuťově to není žádná lahoda k usrkávání, byl jsem schopný dopít láhev jedině jako Cuba Libre.

Bon rapport qualité prix, il est très doux. Un note de vanille et de chêne, le tout caramélisé. Par rapport au 12 et 7 ans, est qu’ il le prix? Pour les vrais connaisseurs oui, sinon le 12 fait l affaire.
