diplomatico reserva exclusiva is just right - complex without being overwhelming. loads of molasses, ripe orange, chocolate and wood, with light vanilla and toasted almond, well-mannered (minimal ethanol burn). this is one for the crystal snifter, in front of a good fire, with close friends.
I would actually rate this in the 8.4 area as I believe that, for the cost, this rum does it all. Fine as a sipper, better on the rocks and perfect with a medium to plus bodied Cigar. Everyone knows the profile by now, I think. Molasses, leather, hints of dark fruit and cedar. In that 40$ price range I do not think it has a competitor
I’m rum & coke drinker all the way....cheap or expensive...rum & coke belong together.
This one has a smooth sip and goes down real easy
celui ci est le rhum le plus sec de ma collection, ceci dit il est tres bon
My first "proper" rum. Tried a few whiskey drinks here or there and some rums made for baking sweets etc.
Was given Diplomatico 5cl small bottle as a gift. Poured neat on a rainy summer evening. Pours light copper brown. Molasses and sugar cane, with caramel finish on the nose. But on the taste, I was not really impressed. Not really much sweetness as it was advertised.
Should try some other rums as well.
This is by far the best aperitif at the bar after a great steak dinner. Slightly sweet but with enough character to pull it off.....
My only 10 rating so far. Absolutely wonderful in all regards.
but this should be let to be get older mate will do
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Very nice balance between sweet and spice. This drinks very nicely neat with a long aftertaste that doesn't turn bitter later. Notes of vanilla, plum, coffee, black pepper and cinnamon for me.
Price is very good too, this can easily be sold for more, but they don't, because they are nice like that... Just like the rum :)
