Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva

- V roce 1959 byl ve Venezuele založen lihovar. Ten v roce 2002 koupila Destilerías Unidas S.A. a stala se tak jedním z největších výrobců rumů v zemi.
- Rum je blendem z jihoamerické Venezuely. Zraje v průměru 12 let v sudech z bílého kanadského dubu po whisky a burbonu.
- Barva je krásná jantarová.
- Vůně je bohatá, karamel, pomerančová kůra, banány, vanilka a skořice.
- Chuť je poměrně sladká, ale vyvážená, dubová, doplněná trochou zázvoru a skořicí s intenzivním medovým koncem.
- Doporučuju do sklenky přidat kousek pomeranče.

It’s definitely not bad and I can see why a lot of people do like it. It’s just not for me. It’s to sweet and sugar forward.

This is actually a drink with decent complexity, mellow and rich. But it tastes very sweet as if they added sugar molasses.

Really enjoyed this rum. Smooth with Hints of vanilla. Have bought myself a couple of bottles to enjoy this weekend

Great rum beautiful bottle usually under 35 a 750ml

A watery, young rum that has been coloured with molasses.
Does not bring close to any depth from barrel or aged rum.
A rip-off in my oppinion

At the time I wrote this, the Diplomàtico réserva exclusiva was the most rated rum on the site (over 2000 ratings, not highest rated though average 8.1 is very impressive). I am naturally skeptical that a rum which is easily available and price accessible could rate so highly so well done rumratings, you convinced me to part ways with my disposable income to keep you honest, if only in my own mind (a lonely place at the best of times.....). Well darn, its good, real good, and not just cos its good value. I don't think it's as good as the Havana Club blue label but it's better than most other rums I've tasted on my limited rum tasting career. The colour is beautiful as you can see front the photo, deep rich caramel. The nose leads with molassas but not overly so (like to Plantation over proof) with nutty and mild Christmas flavors wafting around. Having said all that, the way it tastes is what makes this rum great. A luscious silky smooth mouth feel with a pleasant bittersweet aftertaste reminiscent of dark chocolate dipped in, well, rum..... For what it's worth, this rum is also very tasty in a pina colada (it's my life, I don't care if you judge me).
