Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva is a nice sipping rum for the price point. Offered @ $50-$60 CAD.

Again, I am new to sipping rum and getting used to the terminology. With this one I can smell vanilla, molasses and orange. It tastes as good as it smells and is smooth on the tongue. The burn is fairly mild and afterwards I can still taste the vanilla and orange.
It’s been a while since I had this rum and had it again his afternoon, and wow was I surprised. This is an excellent rum with lots of depth and very smooth. Tastes very pure without additives or alcohol burn, other than sugar. Nice cinnamon and island spice after tones. Much more pronounced neat, becoming a bigger fan of Diplomatico. Sad I just found out 40 grams of added sugar to this rum. More than most liquors, and sodas.
It’s not terrible but this 8+ rating from 2000 reviews is a head scratcher.
It’s cloyingly sweet. Not very complex.
I probably would rate it 6 but knocked off a point because this aggregate rating is far too high.
I know my knocking a point off won’t do much to change that after over 2000 reviews, but I’m doing it on principle anyway.
Decided to taste test versus the Plantation 5yo Barbados that I’d already rated as 7 and this came out as better.
Slightly smoother, with a more distinct flavour of spice.
Tak zdecydowanie tak, kolejny Rum który trafił mnie w głowę. Nie będę opisywał smaku i zapachu... bo najlepiej spróbować i ocenić samemu . Jest taki jaki powinien być porządny Rum.
Complex, full-bodied and full flavoured rum, but I wish it was less sweet. If you don't like sweet, fruitty rums, better skip it.
For a reason or two that I cant understand DIPLOMATICO became a trend in my hometown, probably because for a period it was out of stock. I had to taste it!!! I wouldnt say it is not a good rum, but it definetely wasnt up to its expectations
It is not a classic rum in style, it has sugar level of demerrara, but not the taste profile. Nevertheless, this is THE rum which got many people to start exploring rum brands and styles, including myself. It was a good start, but now it is a bit too sweet for me. Fruity on the nose, with orange and raisin notes, the taste is vanilla, raisins, toffee, slight touch of oak and bit of cocoa, all nicely balanced. If you do not finish the bottle fast enough, the end of the bottle loses its attractive taste profile after some time and turns into an ice cream topping. A bit too sweet for me, therefore it is 7.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

My first better rum I've tried. It is easy to drink and I can smell dried fruits and especially cherry marmalade. One of the sweeter rums out there. Considering the price, it's agreat value rum.
