A nice, easy to sip rum that does not offend but is too sweet to be marked great. Quite dark in colour, very likely thanks to added caramel as some speculate. It has a certain spiciness to it, which lasts for a while, then overtaken with a sweet sensation that does not go. This sweet aftertaste is something I do not like, but I can understand why many love it. Will not buy again.
I expected better seeing the overall rating. In my opinion the sweetness is overwhelming. It lacks personality. Lenght is pretty short. Really not much to say about it.
Cheers !
I’m actually surprised that the rating on this is only 8.0. I’d definitely hold this to one of my favorites. This Diplomatico is something you should always have at home.
Nuanced, spicy taste with sweetness and clear barrel character, hints of orange, raisins, nuts, vanilla fudge and cinnamon.
Bottle: 700ml
Alcohol: 40%
Sugar content: 35g/l
Been given a few of these by friends who know I like Rum, too sweet for me and my personal tastes
It's a nice drink and I'm looking forward to moving up the Diplomatico ladder at Some point
Sells for about £30- £35 in the uk 2021
I own a bottle and only rate what I have bought
It has everything that is needed! Nice colour, gooooood smell, and sweet soft flavour. I like it very much.
Only thing it lacks is something new and interesting
Easily drinkable, sweet in the beginning, strong taste after.
I HAD to try a bottle of this, because of the high praise it receives all over the internet. This rum is in a slightly higher price bracket to where I normally shop, so expectations were sky-high. I just find it sickeningly sweet, on the nose, during sipping and long after finishing a glass. Back to the cheap mixers for me......
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
