Captain Morgan is always a good choice but the Captain Morgan spice is extra special. The hint of nuttiness mixed with spices adds a pleasant taste to almost any mixed drink.

this is how you do. Ask: "What spiced rums do you carry?" If the answer is Captain Morgan Spice get up and go to a different bar. If you are stuck with relatives or annoying coworkers.. order a double with coke.

Only good with Coke. I only drink this on the golf course.

Can drink straight or mix, one of the better cheap rums

Where spiced rums are concerned, captain is the bare bones, prototypical mixer. As a standalone rum it's a little sweet with some moderate spice, stiff alcohol finish. A good helping of Coke disguises the lack of flavors and brings out the sugarcane/spice compliment. An affordable party rum that will keep the average rum drinker satisfied, but leaving those with refined tastes asking for more complexity.

It's a party rum and great to have on hand. Mixes well with anything. Just don't mistake this for a GOOD rum.

You can definitely find a better tasting spiced rum out there, but this is usually the beginning. Vanilla and a mix of baking spices. Not as sweet or as much as vanilla as the white. This works well for certain cocktails if you build around the flavor profile, but it's not a sipper.

Nothing too special about this rum, but it has plenty of natural flavor. Little bit of vanilla and caramel, but not too strong. Agreeable to most palates.

I feel that a lot of reviews are unfair on Captain Morgan Spiced. It's a decent rum, nothing to blow your mind, and certainly not one to drink neat. It's intended for mixing, and it makes a very good cocktail with coke or ginger ale. I rate it 6 because it's very good value. I can buy this easily in my area for about $13.
