Captain Morgan is ringing in the holidays by blending Captain Morgan's typical taste with all the flavour of gingerbread spiced cookies for a unique experience.
Notes of ginger, cinnamon, clove, cocoa, nutmeg, molasses & cardamom highlight this flavoured alcoholic beverage, along with all warmth oh the freshly-baked notes, caramel and all very sweet as we expected .
On the palate is very well-balanced actually. It's a really nice drink. I get the cinnamon coming forward, I get a touch of cloves on there, but I get a little bit of pepper, it's that pepper kick that comes through that I think just rounds that off and makes it that, an exceptional kind of, sort of wintery drink.
The finish is sweet, spicy, rather short and weak, all quickly fading away.
7,5:The nose is very fruity and, above all, very resinous. It starts with fresh apples and pears, but quickly turns to sap, juniper berries and pine needles. With aeration, the resin doesn't weaken, and we find ourselves on the verge of gin. This extremely natural aspect is quite disarming, as we find ourselves very close to fresh wood. With a little rest, a mildly spicy sweetness settles in.
7,2:The palate is divided between the freshness and intensity of the resin, and a certain burnt, strongly roasted side. It comes out a bit bitter. The spices are fresh too, with hints of aniseed, caraway and, why not, cardamom. Some tropical fruits are there also, quite weak. Finally, the raw wood gives way to more familiar vanilla notes.
7,4:The finish takes us to the heart of a fruity, rather bold rum, still carrying strong juniper berry flavors.
Tried this on my last trip to Total. Strong alcohol start and finish. Works ok with Coke Zero, but I would choke on it neat. Just another cheap mixer, but still as good or better than Bacardi.
8,8:On the nose, we get rich and rather phenolic notes, with lovely coffee notes, fig syrup, burnt cake and some muscovado sweetness. Further on, there is cigar tobacco, hazelnut caramel and dark chocolate. All together like XMas cake. Some hints of tar liqueur and liquorice could also be found. There’s a pinch of overripe banana esters, a floral note (rose) and polished exotic wood.We scent some meaty notes towards the end.
8,8:On the palate, the attack is very creamy and sweet, with a lot of maple syrup and toffee, a heavily infused black tea with sweetness exubing. There are prunes and chocolate, some herbal notes, going towards cough bonbons, glazed meat with a herbal sauce. Later we notice coffee pralines. The floral woody note of the nose returns, now becoming rather perfumed.
8:The finish is medium, a bit floral, fresh, with Liquorice, chocolate and spice.
Tasting made with 2 cl sample...
5,8:On the nose it is quite intense right after opening the bottle, where, by the way, I appreciate the quality oak cork, which is not often seen at this price, which is doubled after pouring into a glass. In reality, you can mainly smell soft pepper, plums and raisins from the fruits, roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Also with no major objections.
5,5 :On the palate, there is caramel, slightly behind orange peel and pepper, nutty vanilla and a little fruity .More woody than competition from Eastern Europe.
5:The finish is already too woody and alcoholic.
This is a good choice for cocktails that calls for an unaged rum. This is well made and contains diverse flavors. For less than #25 for a liter, it's QPR is rather impressive.
It’s not bad. On the search for better. I am new so much to learn.
With a price of $40 USD this is definitely one to have in my collection. Works as a sipper neat, on the rocks or in upscale cocktails.
Has a nice oak dryness with a nice even sweetness. I get hints of fruit and chocolate.
What a delicious rum. The presentation is top notch. Box to bottle is very nice. The nose is beautiful. Burnt sugar, fresh sugar cane, caramel, toffee, creme brulee, perfect barrel notes, hints of cognac and dark fruits. No ethanol at all. Amazing nose. The pallet is just as amazing. Everything I got on the nose. From beginning to end, this rum hits all of the pallet. Nice medium finish. A must for your collection. I love it, even for the price. Wish they proofed it up a couple notches. It would knock it out of the park. Highly recommend.
The last time I listen to the Total Wines clerk. It's slightly better than OK. Very smoky and strong vanilla.
Good drinking rum but holy cow it'll send you into a diabetic coma before you get drunk. You know it's good stuff when non rum drinkers love it. Lol
Smooth finish. A touch sweet but easy sipping rum.
Terrible. Just because you like tattoos doesn't mea. You'll like this mess. Save it dke a rum and coke.
Nice color and packaging. Good for mixing but like drinking rum flavored acetone neat.
Nothing could really have lived up to the expectations for this one. The apple in barely noticeable and there is not much more extra. A nice rum but for the price this is a miss.
Looks dark and elegant. Sweet and mellow with dark but not fruity aromas. Slightly woody on the palate at first. Then some fruityness as well.
Beautiful bottle. Some ethanol in the aroma together with tropical fruits. Sweet fruityness in the flavor.
Bon rhum mais il y a des meilleures options dans la gamme de prix.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
