Sampled at the Black Flamingo on 7/28/24. Thanks for the rum, Jordan! Pours a ruby-brown color. Interesting hazelnut aroma. The flavor has a huge sweetness. Plums and cherries, but also a bit of tobacco. This has a rich palate of caramels that dominates. Quick finish, but delightfully satisfying.
9,2:On the nose, the first impression we get is chocolate mixed with thick PX sherry, christmas cake, honey, nougat, warm spices with cinnamon and ginger.Very tempting, rich... The leather shows up after airing the rum, old oak is mesmerizing with vintage books paper notes and yummy cherries, some juicy tropical fruits.
9:On the palate the first attack is with sweet, buttery chocolatey dark Schwarzwald cake and dark sour cherry, very creamy, honeyed, elegant, then, as on the nose cinnamon arises with some coffee, vanilla and tobacco. Tropical fruits like pineapple and banana add to rum complexity.
9:The finish is round and very balanced, thick with Tokaji wine shining, combining red and tropical fruits with cocoa and a hint of mocha, that continue Schwarzwald cake story from the palate.
In my opinion - not bad rum at all.37,5 % - smooth in taste, nice colour,
smell- a lot of vanilla,sweet.
Vanilla, caramel, raisins and berries in aroma; sweet caramel start, raisins, chocolate and clove in body; pleasant tail.
bought a bottle due to quite good opinions here, unfortunately can't find it enjoyable, there is something strange in it's taste, not my cup of tee.
extremely strong, but considering the 75%, the taste of alcohol is not as overwhelming as one might think, instead it boosts all the flavors in this rum, making it very enjoyable.
good sipper for a fair price, bit too sweet but acceptable, very smooth
Funky, fruity aroma with notes of banana and pineapple. Sweet start, honeyed fruit body, and a warming, ester-rich finish.
Best honest rum. No added sugar, no solera real 21 years aging. Very complex and well balanced with long aftertaste. For so old rum, wood give space for other taste: tobacco, dark chocolate.
Taste long, wood, raisins maybe caramel and filling aging in wine barrels, sweetness is perfect for me
This is aged for 5ys in bourbon casks rum. Neutral and easy on nose. Golden color, like Gold rum.
43° feels smooth - no ethanol kick. Pretty delicious on palate. Vanilla, licorice, some fruits are well pronounced, but its 50\50 taste - something in between flat and rich. Short and the same aftertaste.
Overall, one of the best Canadian creations so far.
One reviewer stated " you will either like it or hate it." Well, I really dislike it. Funky rotten spoiled milk with a smell and taste of nail polish. You could explain esters to me all day and hype it, but it's not for me. To my pallet it has a lingering nail polish aftertaste with a hint of sherry bitterness. There are so many other rums that are ten times better for less money. Save yourself the trouble and money. Spend a little more and get a Foursquare if you are looking for hype. At least Foursquare is worth the hype.
It seems that the rum were aged for 2 years. Boring and rude. It could have been worse. I bought it very cheap for Dark'n' Stormy, so 5/10 .,.,.,.,. Определëнно не резкий и не гадкий, но скучный. Годится только для коктейлей и по большой скидке.
dancing on a thin line between liquor and rum. Strong chocolate taste, sweet but in the end quite enjoyable to sip.
strange artificial taste, not horrible but not interesting either
strong chocolate flavour, but very tasty, does not feel 54%, quite smooth
What a great rum to introduce me to the world of sitting back and sipping a nice rum.
Not too sweet with a nice and smooth finish. Great quality rum for the price.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
