Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
at a tasting and this rolled out. Always wanted to try Boutiqu-ey rum but this was a Jamaican rum which was potentially high ester and an agricole which I have yet to find one i liked. Smell was not pleasant. it was not overly estered but it was agricole forward in every respect. in fact if I wasn't told, I would have thought this was 100% agricole. one saving grace is the finish was weak and enjoyed the rest of the pour with coke in the glass.
enjoyed this at a tasting and was surprised. nice smell going in but confusing. there is a smell that is stumping me....is it tea? taste hits on all cylinders as it is so complex. it has a thicker mouth feel than expected and the burn is very pleasant but quickly is only left on the tongue. Had a case of sticker shock when I looked at the price (out of curiosity) on the shelf. Not quite
as good as the Panamanian Ron Abuelo Cask finish offerings which are, in my opinion, far superior at about the same price - especially the Port and Cognac Casks! Cheers
enjoyed this at a tasting and was surprised. I approached with apprehension expecting high ester and 59% to start slapping me around. the nose warns of an impeding flavor bomb. No harsh smell. the taste is very pleasant and the amped up flavors play very well. the alcohol taste is initially a bit over the top but very quickly settles down to a quiet burn as you swallow. the finish lingers in the sinuses. a fine example of jamaican offerings
Never had heard of this brand - its good, really good. mild nose, very decent taste and smooth finish. This could have been an 8 if stood by itself however there are better options much cheaper. Glad I was at the tasting.
7,5:On the nose, the rum's navy profile comes across as soft and round. Gunpowder, iodine and copper are here, we notice smoky, roasted profile with burnt sugar, even funkiness, notes of garlic!Soon exotic fruitiness comes in, the rum becomes woody, it is charred.
Aeration gets us joined gunpowder and fruit. A harmony is created between full-bodied, fruity and now pastry aromas with baking spices and some herbal notes. Almond, dried banana, resin and prune, with hints of quince paste, very dark cocoa and copper with nail polish are nicely balanced.
7,2:On the palate the first attack is syrupy, thick, powdery with caramelized burnt sugar and gunpowder, then nutty, coppery, slightly bitter and astringent notes, buttery and quite balanced.Pastry notes follow. The exotic fruits of the mid-palate are then clothed in cocoa and gourmet spices.
7,5:The finish is spicy, vegetal, buttery, resinous and with molasses, some fruity notes and licorice in the end.
Facile a boire.
Robe tres pale. Sur la noisette et amande. Se boit bien.
Holy sheet that’s dark and full of flavour!!! A molasses bomb!!! A bit of honey and a bit of salty cereal malt but mostly rummy rum rum. Do it!
8,8:On the nose, you find an vanilla and sweetness, that switch into the lime leaves and juicy pineapple, becomes spicy with warm spices when aired, then there is a lot of toasted coconut and hazelnut with hints of sherry, leather and cola that add to rounded rum and depth.
8,6:On the palate, we start with maple syrup at first, molasses, toffee, some mocha, which go further to woody, even more roasted and earthy notes. The rum gives us a strong, but integrated notes of maltiness and cigar. Some milk chocolate, toastedness and vanilla complete the complex palate.
8,6:The finish is long, woody, roasted with apple notes, toffee and notes of camp fire, a touch of Glenfarclas finish of this superb rum.
This Rum has been aged in oak casks for over 10 years. The gold color is very inviting! I grab a Bottle in a liquor store in Cartered in New Jersey. The Bottle lasted one week. I drank it alone, sippin it every evening ☺️. The nose shows notes of coconut, vanilla, a little banana. Typical tropical notes. This one is produced in Panama but was made according to traditional cuban Method. If you know about cuban rhums, you will see the some similarity with Havana Club Sélection del Maestro, Which is awesome. It is somehow sweet, spicy, some notes of honey, easy to drink and longlasting in mouth. Cheers !

that glimmer was the smell. smells like a really great Christmas eggnog. after that it was down hill fast. couldn't stomach the taste straight and Coke made the taste worse. ended up throwing it down the drain.
