Amph White Mauritius High Degree rum
Amph White Mauritius High Degree review posted 2 months ago by LUKAŽIGA 🇸🇮 | 255 ratings

7,5:On the nose there are vegetal notes with a slight lemony point, pure sugar cane juice is scented, agricole notes, flowery with geranium, litchi, mushrooms, olive, spicy, sea prawns, a sensation of freshness appears inspite of high degree of alcohol.
7:On the palate, the first attack is fatty, intense, full-on pure cane juice, litchi, then in the mid-palate, it is surprisingly silky, there are agricole, vegetal notes, some smokiness, a bit bitter and peppery. Quite balanced, but very strong. Goes nice as mixer.
7:The finish is medium, with sugar cane and spice, becomes more balanced.

I bought a large bottle of this (1.75L) since it's been a while since having a dark rum. I enjoy all rum on the rocks & this one tasted good to me. I like the heavier flavors & Bacardi is a reputable brand - I know it'll be a quality product. Good to change things up occasionally.

Barcelo Anejo rum
Barcelo Anejo review posted 2 months ago by therealrumtaster 🇮🇪 | 1 rating

Firstly, from the first look at the bottle I was tempted to try it (but also because of the moderately cheap price). It’s light brownish colour was clear through the dark brown bottle, inspiring a sense of pseudo-professionalism to impress the friends that are not that good at knowing rums. The pour was satisfying, leaving it up to whoever wants to pick how much it goes in the glass without struggling with a complicated cap. After reviewing both as a mixer and by itself, I would recommend using it as a mixer. Being the only Dominican rum to have been made with sugar canes it blends smoothly with the sweetness of the soda. Although, I would not recommend using too much rum in the combination as it can quickly ruin the smoothness and can bring a stingy aftertaste, for which I would deduct some points. In addition, I would not recommend sipping it by itself, due to the unsatisfactory quality. But oh well, what can you expect from a rum that’s this price?

A hint of chocolate, woody, grassy, amber colored.
I recommend for people who loves nice cocktails and could be sipped at anytime.

Amph White Mauritius rum
Amph White Mauritius review posted 2 months ago by LUKAŽIGA 🇸🇮 | 255 ratings

7,5:On the nose, this is a typical pure sugar cane juice rum, fresh and rich. It offers us juicy fresh sugar cane with lot of different notes as mushrooms, litchi, a bit rotten banana peel, fermented/ripe banana, freshly cut grass, some citrus, agricole and flowery notes of geranium, perhaps some notes of fresh sea prawns, briny....
7,4:On the palate it is very smooth on the attack with pure sugar cane juice, is agricole, flowery, spicy/peppery, almost sweet, with a velvety fruits as litchi, banana, a bit mineral, damn ', with chocolate and salty, briny, some freshly cut grass as an addition and medicinal.
7,4:The finish is is mineral, with sugar cane powder, there is smoke, some spice, medium length.

Havana Club 3-Year rum
Havana Club 3-Year review posted 2 months ago by LUKAŽIGA 🇸🇮 | 255 ratings

4,5:The nose immediately takes us into familiar territory: a fruity rum, with very little wood and enough alcohol to appear in a festive cocktail. Although it's classified as a light rum, there's no mistaking its nature and confusing it with any other white spirit: it is indeed a rum.
A little opening will bring out tangy, floral aromas, between lychee and heady tropical flowers. Whatever happens, it remains very smooth and docile.
4,8:On the palate, the rum swirls into thousands of fiery droplets. The alcohol takes effect and refreshes the mouth. The aromas are discreet and rather fine, with the freshness of a redcurrant or raspberry still firm.
4:The finish leaves a light, rather dry rum taste that quickly fades.

Golden honey colour. Aroma of light Christmas fruits and honey. Smooth and light on the palate and a mellow finish. I let this one breath for a few minutes before tasting. Reminds me a little of a Speyside whiskey...just a hint but no peat. Very clean flavour and not heavy like many of the rums I tend to drink. Not sweetened.

Dictador Solera Distillery Icon Reserve 20-Year review posted 2 months ago by NzStacy 🇳🇿 | 47 ratings

This is a nice middle of the road rum for me.

If you are a massive fan of the XO and it's rich flavour, then you may be slightly disappointed here as it does not match the XO in anyway.

This has a nice toffee flavour that is the mainstay of the rum with a caramel side taste.

The tail is medium I think due to the toffee taste.

Overall a nice rum on the rocks, went well with a mixer when tried, but nice enough to drink on the rocks.

Not a neat rum for me.

Brought on special so felt like value for money.

I like to taste the rums in series and now I'm after Malteco. Already tried 10, 11 and 20 yo rums, and pleasantly surprised of all of them.
The 25 yo has more depth and just a bit better balance between smoothness and strength than 20yo, but I like the 20yo better due to its distinguishable tobacco notes. In any case, you just can't go wrong with either of them.

Rammstein Cognac Cask 12-Year rum
Rammstein Cognac Cask 12-Year review posted 2 months ago by Chamarelo 🇩🇪 | 61 ratings

This rum is a blend of pot and column still rums from Jamaica, Trinidad and Guyana, matures for up to 12 years in bourbon barrels and then receives a cognac cask finish for 9 months. Bottled at 46% ABV. Sounds interesting in any case.
Nose: honey, caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla. Although it is not supposed to be sweetened, the smell is mild, soft and harmonious.
Palate: indefinable fruit notes that probably come from the Jamaica rum and the cognac barrel. There is a bit of white wine. Or grapes. Light nutty notes and a slightly too dominant alcohol sharpness.
Finish: the finish is long, but unfortunately also indefinable and very dry. Above all, the alcohol sharpness lasts a long time.
Conclusion: the best thing is the nose. It is really very pleasantly sweet and mild, a shame that it doesn't continue like that on the palate. It's still OK, but nothing special and not really definable. The finish is very weak without any highlights. In my opinion, it's too expensive for €55 and not good value for money. Beautiful and unusual bottle made of black clay.
All in all not more than 6 points
