A nice smell of vanilla, a sip is caramelly and nutty. This rum is definitely not heavy on the wood and only caramel dominates. It's nice that the rum is not sweet and has a typical rum burn, however I cannot find the 7 years of aging back in this rum.
On the rocks it's ok to sip if you have nothing better. But I'll try to find a good mix for it.
Destilleret i Guyana i 2007 - aftappet i april 2021. 61,2 %. Bottle 350 / 479.
Den smager helt fantastisk, men den er også stærk og noget skarp på tungen men stadig god.

Aroma - leather conditioner followed
Taste - spiced honey with a burnt rubber finish
I finally found a run that I can smell and taste the oak barrel. Smith and clean.
Aroma - raisin cookie followed by orange peel, brown sugar, and molasses
Taste - sweet bread followed by burnt sugar, root beer and a ginger finish
Vanilla, raisins, tobacco, spices and wood in aroma; caramel start, little technical notes, tobacco, smoked barrel, berries in body, smoky tail.
Sherry, coffee, cherries, orange zest, wood, sugarcane and leather in aroma; barrel, sherry, berries, burnt caramel and tannin in body, long heating tail.
Fruity, maple syrup, wood, caramel, exotic fruits and plums in aroma; citrus, caramel, berries, leather, bitting, smoked barrel in body; lasting dried fruit tail.
Saw this on sale at our local ABC, read a bunch or reviews here and basically got from them "good intro sipper" so I bought one. My first sip I gagged! So not one to jump the gun I tried another glass. Still did not like it. Day two, no improvement in my mind.
This rum does not taste like rum, it is closer to a peaty scotch whiskey. The smoke flavor is overpowering and it has quite a bit of alcohol bite, not smooth at all.
I would never recommend this to a newbee for sure and if you are a rum aficionado, you most likely would feel the same as me - stay away....
Vanilla, grapes, raisins, oak barrel and banana in aroma; fruity start, caramel and earthy tones, touch of ginger in body; lightly smoky tail.
Vanilla, dried fruits, coffee and sugarcane in aroma; dry start, smoked barrel, touch of vanilla and spices in body; mild lasting smoked tail.
8,9:On the nose, the first impressions are going towards the classical Bajan range with coconut, dried fruits, caramelized, bourbon touch, woody, baking spices, as cinnamon, nutmeg, glue, underneath we notice some tropical fruits with passion fruit and banana. Darker notes are coming from sherry maturation and are also nicely roasted, as milk chocolate, roasted nuts. There is also some metallic note and some dryness.Aeration brings out even darker notes with roasted nuts, leather, cocoa powder, smokiness and even coffee, as vanilla expresses here a bit intensively. Balanced and harmonious.....
8,6:On the palate, the attack is pretty strong with spiciness, wood, nuts, bourbon notes with yellow fruits and buttery caramel, pastries and dried fruits, as dried dates, chocolate, candied fruits. Now it becomes more dry, the wood is toasted, as coconut, we notice tannic character and citrus as it is a bit astringent. Later some medicinal notes come out, metallic and iodine, is a bit smoky and salty, bitterness cannot be overlooked.
8,5:The finish is long, dry, with lots of toasted wood, citrus, tannins, dried fruits, is roasted with burnt and caramelized sugar, warm with sweet spices. In the end, there is some leather.
A good amount of funky, Jamaican smell and flavour is what this rum is all about. It could be sipped, but is quite strong and has a very long finish. In a mixed drink it stands out, but it’s very pleasant. It is also a great deal coming from plantation at only $38 at the LCBO.
Appleton estate signature mixed with Coca-Cola can be a great drink that goes down way too easy. It does not have too much funky Jamaican flavour and could be sipped neat , but it could also stand some more barrel ageing to make it great. Great value at only $37 at the LCBO.
A fine mix of sweet and savoury. Easy drinker. Nothing special
A different and unique tasting rum. Spicy chili bites and sweet honey comes in to sooth.
Deep flavoured rum with a lot of char/smoke. Love to sip on this one.
A bit disappointed in the taste. I was expecting more funk but found it quite bland. Used it as a mixer.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
