Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
I've tried this straight and in a Hemingway Daiquiri. It's surprisingly good and makes for a very tasty Daiquiri. If you come across this, don't be afraid to try it! Very nice rum!
Purchased this and as usual, was not disappointed. Although it's very similar to the 2009, this is still a fantastic rum, always ready to please the pallet. Highly recommend!
I managed to track this down in a Tiki bar in Chicago, they didn't have much left in the bottle. Oh my goodness, so good. So tasty. So satisfying. Wish I could find a full bottle of this for sale, and for less than the cost of a night at a 4-star luxury hotel.
Better than it's 1999 brother, a bit sweet, a bit of funk, not as much aok/"cigar" on the palate. Pleasant while not yet excellent.
Agricol rum, very oaky/cigar tasting, with a strong funk. Not really to my state. I prefered the Selecao 2005, more round, less cigar-y.
Powerful nose with notes of dark fruit and a strong alcohol note. The taste resembles the nose with a strong burn at the end. Overall, a mixer. I’m currently testing with an old grog recipe.
Sweet licorice and caramel on the nose leads to a spicy cinnamon palate. More heat on the finish than other mid ABV rums I’ve had.
An easypeasy rum to have a little sip. Good to drink a little with friends to introduce them to your collection, but nothing special really.
7:On the nose, the first attack is really a pleasant funk, with a lot of esters of overripe tropical fruits with as banana, mango, pineapple. Actually, it is enticing. We could notice burnt rubber and metallic notes. It feels pretty thick, there are molasses, caramel and some spices
4,8:On the palate it is syrupy, but quickly loses appeal from the nose, as sweetness, caramel and metallic notes, prehaps iodine, are very strong with molasses.
Overripe tropical fruits and funkiness are secondary and weak. There is some wood and spice.... A bit disappointing.
6:The finish is quite short, but at least funkiness re-emerges and improves the picture of this teste...
Not the best in this range, but which one would be anyways? Taste is a very subjective matter nontheless. I like it and dont regret the purchase. What makes it unique in my collection is the smokey thing it has to it. Recommendation.
Bought it, tasted it, liked it. Since taste is taste and everybody has a different one i wont go into detail about that. It is young but i dont feel punished by that, mild, very tasteful and a bit unique so too. It has my full recomendation to put in any collection!
Alweer een mooi produkt van Wagemut. Nicolas Krőger. Graag nog meer van dit.
Tasted at Laka Lono on 9-15-24 thanks to Pinto and Naomi. Clear. Doughy aroma slight grassy. Flavor is mildly sweet and flat. Bitter with a hint of blueberry. Just not good.
Tasted at Laka Lono on 9-15-24 thanks to Pinto and Naomi. Pours clear. This is an overproof and needs to be approached as such. Undiluted, it has an obnoxious isopropyl aroma. The first taste sensation is liquid fire. Then tangerines. Drops of water yields some hazelnut. More water- cheddar cheese. More water- anise and licorice. Has a final spruce finish. If you are willing to dilute to taste, this is not as horrid as you might think.
7,7:On the nose, this is typical agricole of Mauritius with the dominance of fresh vegetal notes as grass, olive, there is a pinch of a resin, nice flowery scent and smoky with brine.
Sugar cane is juicy and mineral with fruity notes of ripe banana, peaches or apricots, perhaps candied fruits, honey and pastries. There is wood and a pinch of spiciness. Very smooth and gentle.
7,7:On the palate, as agricole, is mineral, briny, sugar cane is fresh, flowery, covered with honeyed tropical fruits as ripe banana, peaches or apricots, all candied, as on the nose. We get spiciness from pepper, ginger, is dry and vegetal with grass, the wood is light, young.
7,5:The finish is quite long, light, buttery with a pinch of vanilla and fresh, dry, as the sugar cane is juicy and mineral with fruity touch and a bit woody, vegetal.
Thoughts: So this is something different! It fully occupies your palate and decides not to sit there gracefully either. Unsurprisingly complex for an aged rum, this has hints of a Jamaican rum with the strong funky esters. Anise is pretty potent on this one along with the notes of charred port barrels all served in a lounge with leathers aged by cigar smokers. The very high percentage does give the taste buds a battering and would have been interesting to see this as a 40% to perhaps get some more of those flavours out. This retailed/retails for £330 and above, we think there are better rums out there for this price but it does deserve high praise.
Rating: 7/10
Smell - treacle, port barrels, dark chocolate, oily
Taste - high alcohol burn, smoked wood, esters, sweet dark fruit, anise
After Taste - smoking leather, more esters, black tea, subtle mint
8,5:On the nose, the first impression we get is from ageing in bourbon barrels, as orange dark chocolate is tempting with notes of fruit compote. Ripe plums and orange peel add energy to nose which also gives some light ginger notes and rich flavor full vanilla. Vintage leather could be noticed when the rum is well aired. Sauternes finish nicely complementing bourbon ageing...
8,8:On the palate, the first attack is with French pancakes, leading to tangerine sweetness and some apple notes. There is an underlying earthy note that adds complexity, followed by a sweet grape overtone (Sauternes) that lifts the taste again. A splendid balance between sweetness and earth, between bourbon ageing and French finish 👌.
8,6:The finish is long, as notes of candied orange peel and pear slices, coupled with a hint of smoky charred wood are delicious and balanced.
This is my second bottle of the different Diplomatico Single Vintage.
I tried the 2007 and it was also amazing!
Scent of farin sugar, fudge, vanilla, burned sugar, burned caramel.
This bottle had taste of chocolate, cacao, farin sugar, fudge, vanilla, carnation, cinnamo
On the finish comes a strange tutti-frutti like taste. Perhaps some mix of yellow or orange fruit (maybe peach,) also along with a little spiciness.
A very complex bottle with many different flavours to find.
Amazing bottle with a very very unique taste!

Have used this in Mai Tai's and Jet Pilots and it works really well. Not their best rum, but very versatile for tiki cocktails!
