Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

This is one of the rums that always has to be on stock in my cabinet. It is certainly not very cheap and there are other cheaper rums wich I also rate with 10 points but if it tastes the way it does it deserves 10 point.
The best Rum ive ever hat.
Absolute perfect taste. For me 😊
Sweet and soft.
It's been one year since my introduction to Rum. Although I don't have a lot of experience with Rum yet (tasted around 10 rum in total from 7 different brands), I must say that this bottle has been my favorite one (also most expensive) so far next to the El Dorado 21. Very smooth, sweet in the mouth (honey) but not too much, complex aftertaste (notes of sherry and cognac)
I'm a fan of Ron Zacapa, so I figured this one would be amazing. Not quite. The 23 is better. A bit more bite than the 23, but that's about it. The notes are relatively similar.
It is a great gift for a friend who never tried a sipping Rum,
But for me, there are better & less expensive ones out there.
I have a sealed bottle waiting in my cabinet...
This is an excellent rum, a little pricey, not sure if the 70$ difference between the XO and the 23 year old Zacapa is worth it, The XO is better but little pricey, is smoother and you can taste all of its flavors a lot easier
Enjoyed this with a medium bodied cigar to bring in the New Year. Sweet, smooth, vanilla flavor, goes down nicely.

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It has a beautiful color, nose of ethanol, honey, and molasses. It has a unique mouthfeel, starting off sweet, then spicy, finishing dry.
It's definitely worth the sip and would recommend a dram if you spit this at the bar or offered to by a friend.
The packaging is beautiful and the bottle is very elegant. It will look great on my bar but sadly will spend a little more time there over some of the other bottles I have.
Edit* just tried this back to back with plantations 20th xo and it really made me appreciate the Zacapa that much more.
