Ron Zacapa XO Rum is produced in the highlands of Guatemala where it is distillled from fresh cane juice. The rum is then aged from 6 to 23 years at 7544 feet above sea level at 62 °F (17 °C) using the solera process. The solera aging process incorporates barrels that previously held American whiskeys, sherries, wines and Cognac
The unique Ron Zacapa XO glass decantur features an impression of a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle

It is a great experience is sipping this beauty. It is complex yet smooth. The finish is long and reminds you for a good while how good this rum is.
Smooth , complex , perfect on the nose much better than the 23 . Lingering rich mouth feel great for a collection
Definitely high quality product with number of well balanced flavours, moderately sweet, something to enjoy during special occasions. Very glad to to have it in my cabinet.

Update: My rating drops from 10 to 9. Sorry Zacapa, RL Seale 10-year changed my view on 10/10 rating.
This is the first time I've demonstrated self control when drinking a rum I enjoyed as much as this. I didn't want the bottle to end.
It is luxury in the mouth, with a slight burn in the throat. About halfway through the bottle, I think I enjoyed my favourite sip of rum to date, it was an absolute delight.
Drink neat.
It's unfortunate that I can't justify spending this much on a bottle regularly.
Nice oak aroma, taste of nutmeg, roasted hazelnuts and a hint of caramel. One of my favorites rum
I first tried this rum a couple of years ago while shopping online through a favourite whisky website I like to browse and I have to say, it was quite outstanding.
While the price has certainly gone up in the last few years, if ever I was going to introduce someone to expensive sipping rums, this would potentially be the starting point I would use. It comes in one very sexy curvy looking bottle which is a real eye grabber at a party when broken open and if its left to breath for a while, is very easy to gently sip on.
It's sweet but not sickly sweet like a lot of rums are and has a lot of smoothness and character to it. Hits all the right notes for a rum you would enjoy next to a fireside at Christmas or down on the beach as a sundowner.
Compared to other nice rums I have tried such as the Diplomatico Ambassador, Appleton Estate Joy, Flor De Cana 25 and El Dorado 21, I think this one on balance is probably best bang for buck. As a personal choice, I would only put the Appleton Estate Joy a few points on overall balance above it (that is an exceptionally well rounded rum) but this punches well above its weight.
Definitely recommend as a buy.
This is one of the rare cases when I rate something a 10. This is an exquisite rum. The color is a nice, rich dark brown. The bottle itself is quite unique, it's a round bottle with a golden neck and a really nice cork with a wooden top. The smell itself is enough to know that it's incredibly smooth - which it is. The smell gives off a sweet, but not too sweet note, which is exactly how I like it. The taste is a wonderful smooth sweet rich bundle of goodness, it really fills your mouth. You can taste some wooden or natural notes, but quite faintly. Overall, an amazing rum.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I have heard how Zacapa XO is too sweet, how it’s got too many additives. I don’t care. I just like it. Pirate Captain and I did a blind taste test of 30 rums March Madness style one weekend. Zacapa XO won for both of us. If you like your runs on the sweet side, you will love it.
Очень ароматный, в меру сладкий ром с богатой палитрой во вкусе и длительном послевкусии. Возможно хотелось бы немного выше крепость. Практически идеальный баланс. Рекомендую

It is rich with coffee notes and a little tobacco.

Love the rum - but Have a hard time telling the difference between this and Zacapa 23 - both exceptional - I just have a hard time paying the extra sticker price for the XO
