Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

After reading some of the reviews on this rum relating to the actual age of the rum and a few people mentioning artificial flavours and colours I was very sceptical. After trying this I actually thought it was very good. The long flavour is sweet but in a smooth way, with flavours of honey and caramel. I'm usually the first to disregard a rum for being too sweet but I love this stuff.

I have been drinking this rum for some years, but I do not feel that it can live ud to it's repetition anyone. It's like a lemon squeeze too much. I will recommend El Dorado over Ron Z. any day and it is way cheaper.

The spice, vanilla and caramel are very present. It's a sweet rum and I agree not a real 23 years old but a blend. But I like it. Need to taste other Zacapa rum to have a better idea...

This rum is rich sweet and if you like sweet rums you will want another glass.
This can used as a sipping rum or an after dinner treat.

Another rum purchased on recommendation of a friend. I am on my 3rd bottle. Very nice rum in the evening to relax with.

The bottle has a exclusive look.. The color is wonderfull. The smell is also nice.. But when the orange taste hits my buds itΒ΄s all over for me.. Overpriced and overrated is my short review of this rum. But there is people out there who love orange and for them this should be liquid candy.. For the others.. Try the XO or Etiqueta negra instead..

I drink the Zacapa 23 neat, in a cognac glass, heat it in my hand like cognac. Wait until it is warm, smell it, love it and drink it. This is better than any cognac... best rum I ever tasted.
If you want a cuba libre, just buy a Bacardi, mix it.
Do not torture the Z23 mixing it!

Great for Rum Mint Mojito Cocktail. It have nice aroma, solid body, great taste, little spice but abit sweetest. I also love its color like dark oak wood.

i'm pretty sure everyone loves this rum. Unbelievably smooth. If you haven't tried it you need to get it.

I see no glimmer of hope. Overly sweet and confected, I picked up a bottle in Duty Free about 3 years ago and I still haven't finished the bottle. The strangest thing about it, is that I bought another bottle while passing through at a later date!! I have really tried to like it, but find no redeeming features at all and as it says, "serious improvement needed".

EDIT - the more I drink it the better it gets. But still nowhere near the average that people have given and ultimately I won't be buying this one again.
