Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

I get the bad reviews here and see where they come from but nonetheless I disagree with them. This rum is smooth, tasteful and great!
Very smooth and sweet.
Nose: caramel, raisin, banana, dried fruits, honey
Taste: honey, brown sugar cane, cinnamon, sugar
Finish: sugar, herb, raisin
This is just a great rum! This is one of my go to Rums and I am very sad when the bottle goes empty. I have converted some friends over to this one as well.
This rum is probably a good base in a normal home. I was expecting more from Ron Zacapa Solera 23 but it delivers almost everything I have read about this product.

This is an excellent rum, a safe bet ! A sharp taste and axcellent aroma on the nose ! Perfect straight, on the rocks or mixed with coke !

Mange har en mening om denne rum. Måske med rette, idet den har et brand og er tidligere vinder af div rumtests.
Jeg har læst flere steder at gennemsnitsalderen er 6-8år og dette er i stor (for stor) kontrast til alderen som hedder 23.
Smag: tør, sødme, lidt honning, kraftig
Sweetened, not a true rum. If you like sweet liqueur you'll definitely like this one. 23 yo solera mix, well you can believe it, if you want to.
Actually quite dry and oaky.

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

While I prefer El Dorado 21 or 15, this rum is still fantastic. Always nice to have a bottle on hand to provide a bit of a change and a reference point. A bit too sweet to have a lot of, but as a late evening sip - yum!
Like fine scotch, every fine rum going into my mouth does so without hindrance from mixes, water or ice. Neat cant be beat.
