Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.
The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.
The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

Jag hade höga förväntningar på den här romen men den får bara en 8 av mig
my very personal opinion too much for average... no offense
Very smooth..alot of flavor.. straight or mixed its great.. one of my favorites
Aromaticky, dubovy rum. Ostrejsej chuti. Citim muskatovy oriesok a lieskovce.
This rum is very high quality. However, for me, it is a bit on the sweet side. I am relatively new to rum. I usually enjoy scotch and bourbon. I think in time I could definitely warm up to this. However, for now it is a bit sweet. If you like sweet rums, I would definitely recommend this.
Nice on the rocks....not deep in flavour bit credible as a rum... Can't imagine mixing but thats just me
I've been drinking rum for a long time but just recently started making serious changes and I'm constantly trying new things. This is the best rum I've had on the rocks and is a new staple in my lineup.
Not much to say about the Zacapa 23 solera that hasn't been said before. It's a rum for people who don't like rum. It's a sugared fruity licqueur. It tastes of sweet jam/jelly. I drank it twice in a bar, bought a bottle once and never restocked it when it was gone. However... as a licqueur it's not without its merits. It has some depth and flavour variety and it's very smooth. I can drink it on a hot sunny day with a bit of ice (to tone down the sweetness, not to smooth out the burn), but that's about the only occasion.
Rich, colourful taste with lots of variations. Works really well with cola also.
Actually quite dry and oaky.
"Flavour builds if you leave the rum in your mouth for a little longer allowing it to coat the palate."
Wonderfully intricate with honeyed butterscotch, spiced oak and raisined fruit...

"The interplay between the wood of the barrel and the liquor contents gives the alcohol its flavour, colour and character..."

Decanted, the rum displays a surprising body in the glass for something so apparently light, and has slow and strong legs down the side of the glass.

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Good sipper but, fell short in the flavor department for me. For the price point and the reviews I expected more. Still not a bad rum and it goes down smooth and is very pleasant on the nose. Not what I expected.
