Guatemala | Aged | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)

Ron Zacapa 23 Solera Rum was created in 1976 in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is distilled in a copper-lined column still from fresh cane juice before solera aging.

The 500 year-old Spanish Sistema Solera method is used to age Ron Zacapa 23 in white oak casks. This results in a combination of rums aged between 6 and 23 years.

The current Ron Zacapa 23 bottle features a woven band around the middle, which is in reference to the original hand woven palm leaf petate bottle cover that covered the bottle.

This was one of my first sipping rums and it was great until I found way better rums. Now it's just OK as a sipping rum. Nowhere near as nice as Diplomatico Reserve Exclusiva.

This is a good rum and for a great price.
All though I fancy the XO a lot more this one is great!

I was honestly a little disappointed at first sip. Not as smooth as other rums in this age range. Great taste, nuanced and well crafted. Just not what I expected. Normally I'd think this rum needs to rest longer but that's clearly not the case. Depending on the specifics of the blend perhaps the older rums in the blend need to be increased. Zacapa 23 is definitely a top-shelf rum, but it needs a little tweening to fulfill it obvious potential.

I'm new to the world of sipping rum, having only enjoyed rum as a mixer. This one tastes great and is easy to sit and sip - probably a good rum for beginners, like me.

This was the rum that introduced me to rums. Smooth sweet and delicious with a reasonable price to boot. Only issue with this rum is I keep buying it instead of trying new ones.

Additives and deception aside this rum tastes great. Not a million miles away from diplomatico reserve which I prefer. Over all I would happily drink this straight .

When my favourite Scotch was unavailable, the bar tender suggested I try Zacapa 23, I loved it from the first sip. Yes it's sweeter than Scotch but I loved the balance of the flavour, rum was always a mixer for me, but not anymore. I read some say it's too sweet. Not for me, it's smooth and very easy to drink. The rum that started my collection,
