Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Yes, it's delicious. I really can't say if there're some additions of sugar or spices to this rum, but the result is very good. The whole consistency of the drink, the flavour, the taste, the aftertaste are rich and soft and mild and mellow simultaneously. It's a great sipper, you just don't need anything to add except for a good snifter. It also has some interesting feeling to it, like some dark caramel taste, almost like good Demerara sugar has. Even if it has sugar in it, I'm good with that. It makes quite an anticipated drink in the evening, I suppose. Well done, Plantation.
I will definitely compare other rums to it as some kind of reference drink.
Would rate it as 82-83 points out of 100, surely above 80. Guess it's 8/10 here.

I dont even like coconut and still think this is just liquid coconut gold. And very smooth too.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.

Coming from whiskey, this was the rum that hooked me on rum. It's complex, it changes, and despite the added sugar it offers a complete experience. I might change my mind later, and I'm sure I'll wish the sugar content was less than it is, but for now this is my benchmark and the reason I've crossed over into rum.
