Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

Best tasting rum with so many hints of molasses you would think you could pour it on pancakes!!
More of that Jamaican funk on the nose than the Platinum version, but similar in taste in that regard. A bit of burn, tastes of lightly burnt brown sugar, with a hint of cinnamon. Dry, and a short finish with some molasses on the back end. Not at all complex, but an acceptable price to performance ratio. It's definitely for mixing. Similar to Coruba, but I prefer the Coruba (a bit less dry, a bit more flavorful).
($33CAD) It’s a very dark spirit with a nice amber color. The smell is that of a Jamaican pot stilled rum with a ton of sweetness.
On the taste side, it’s quite a bit thinner than I imagined. But I did have Smith & Cross at 57% on the mind…
I enjoy it straight up but definitely enjoy it more as a mixer for a dark n stormy.
Dark and mellow - I agree with that. Nice smell of molasses, a bit hogo, even sipping is not terrible. Interesting overall and seems to be authentic old fashioned (in good way). One of the best mixers in it's price.
Der Myers ist und bleibt das bezahlbare Party Getränk schlechthin. Angenehm mild, angenehm süss, kann man Pur trinken, mit Eis, mit O-Saft oder wie meist mit Cola.
I rated this rum as a mixer, not as a sipper.. and it is a very good mixer, for the price you pay.
Heavy on molasses, and coffee aromas. You get tropical fruits and sweet, so be careful when you mix it with other ingredients.
When neat, is not well balanced with a strong burn from alcohol.
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Great addition to an infinity bottle in a small amount <10% of bottle contents. Alone, it's good, not too sweet, hearty, but blending it opens up the flavors and adds some complexities to other rums that's worth experimenting with.
