Myer’s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.
Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

So, friends, I will try to answer quickly. Open the bottle, pour into a glass. The first thing that happens is the smell of alcohol hits the nose. But after a while the flavors start to stand out each. Yes, at first it looks like the well-known Captain Morgan the Dark. But later, I distinctly feel the aroma of bitter almonds, an oak barrel after roasting and wine aged in it, a grape seed. And, I think, ginger. I don't feel molasses with caramel there. We try. You know, friends, it seems to me that I drink Armenian cognac. Slightly hard, but it does not interfere, with a slight bitterness, an oak barrel, a distinct bitterness of a grape seed. But there is no rum in the smell or taste yet! The drink warms me, the bitterness of the grape seed pleasantly flows through me inside. And after the third sip, an aftertaste appears. This is no longer cognac, this is already rum, but it very much resembles Captain Morgan the Dark. I lift an empty glass to my nose. Now the smell is absolutely individual, peculiar only to this rum and at the same time reminiscent of sherry. I can't conclude if this rum is good or bad. Here the consumer decides everything, it is strictly individual. Did he like me? I'm not happy, the second time I will not buy this particular rum. But this bottle I bought will definitely not stand idle on the shelf and will be drunk little by little. Why? The taste of rum is so multifaceted and specific that every time you can find new notes in it. In addition, I really love Armenian cognac!
A classic molasses based very dark rum with sweetness and a bit of a vanilla nose. Strong enough to perfectly balance a classic rum and coke, a basic dark addition to original mai tais, and a must have for any tiki bar. Not the best, but a big step over Sailor Jerry's, Bacardi, Captains and the bottom shelf darks.
This rum has rich fruit sweet smell, raisins, honey. For taste its sweet. Theres raisins dominating with plantain and herbs. In backgroud i can recognise honey with oak. Its really flavorfull rum and it beats many expensive competitors but somehow I cannot enjoy it neat. Maybe because of lot of sweetness. This would be a superb mixer. I would not try it again because i am sipper.
This almost tastes more like Demerara rum than a traditional jamican funk. I like it for a dark rum, but I’m just not huge into dark rums.
Too sharp neat, but works well in cocktails. Rum old fashioned? Get me more of that!
A very good dark Jamaican rum. Perfect for many complex Tiki style drinks. I use it as a float in a Mai Tai. I use it as one of the rums in my Zombie, Hurricane & Jungle Bird. I personally prefer it to Goslings for a Dark & Stormy. Plus, it goes great with cola when in the mood for something simpler. This is a must try for any upcoming rum enthusiasts.
My favorite rum for baking, especially in a rum cake, it is perfect!
Cheers!
The rum is 50% inviting and 50% telling you to watch out!.
"Initially it is all caramel and burnt toffee almost like black treacle. As the aroma develops that rich Jamaican aroma also makes an entrance amongst the dense treacle."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Ok as a mixer, very molasses tasting. Smells like licorice.
