Mount Gay XO Extra Old

Mount gay rums are always great. The XO has a very smooth taste.

I was expecting to enjoy this rum more than I did. As less sweet rums go I much preferred Pusser's 15 year

Visited the distillery on Barbados, and, despite some tumble-down structures, was impressed with modern quality control, the sugar cane grown on the same island, and the depth of flavor, bright yet a nice turn of sweetness, overtones of peat, or perhaps the Spanish oaken sherry casks in which it is aged? A lush rum. Straight, with tonic or soda, delivers a fine, spirited essence of what rum is and can be. Top job!

Another fine Bajan rum. More fruity and less okaed than Seales 10 yo, but not so fruity as to make me think of sherry. There is some banana in this I find absent in Seales, and there's mostly citrus in Doorly's XO. This is just about what I would consider the best for the price. If I want more banana I would have to go to Jamaica, and actually do. Still, this is a nice fine rum that can be enjoyed neat, with a cube, or mixed without feeling like you spent too much for a "mixer" rum. What I mean to say is even if you never enjoy this fine rum neat, you won't be worried. Sure, there are mixing rums that cost far less, but they won't have this rum's smell and taste profile. As for sipping neat or with ice, this is a budget everyday sipper; not the one that sits around oxidizing on the shelf for a decade cause you had to take a loan out to buy the bottle.

Dark mahogany color with banana and vanilla hints in the aroma. Medium in the palate with a hard aftertaste in the first sip.

Really nice vanilla aroma, dark color and a smooth taste. Wel balanced sweet tasting rum with very little (alcohol) afterburn.

Jemný rum, který je konci zahřeje, ale nepotrápí. Klidně bych ho doporučil lidem, kteří nemají rádi sladší rumy.
