Mount Gay Extra Old (often written "OX") is a blend of rums aged between 8 and 15 years in American bourbon barrels.
Mount Gay Distilleries is the oldest operating distillery in the Americas - producing rum in Barbados since 1703. It's original name was Mount Gilboa, and in 1801 renamed Mount Gay after the distillery's manager Sir John Gay Alleyne.

This is one of the best quality/price rums out there. Very fine and well balanced, no added sugar, no bullshit. Great as sipper or mixed.
We are New to rums. Maybe it will take some time bu we prefer sweeter rums. This rum is strong not Sweet. You can taste various spices and wooden flavour.
Really enjoying this bottle. It is rich and complex and very well balanced. Has all the usually notes of an aged rum but also finding coconut and ripe banana which is great! I'm Canada (Alberta) I have found it for $40. Steal
Nice sweet initial hit. But hits with all its might after a short taste. Absolutely lovely and interesting.
Smooth and amazing flavors! Bold, drier, and not as sweet as other rums. Keep a bottle of this ready at all times.

Mt Gay XO is good all around rum. It's great for beginners and people who typically drink whiskey while retaining good rum characteristics.
