Mount Gay XO Extra Old

For the price its not too bad as a smooth sipping rum

Had this on Christmas day and a relative's house. Not bad but I've had much better. Beggars can't be choosers!

Tasted this one in the Caribbean it was ok.
I'm not crazy about it.

A good sipper, not sweet at all. A little boring maybe.

When I smell a rum for the first time, this is what I compare it to. Wonderfully rummy, fruity, woody, smooth and complex. I'm saving a tiny trickle in the bottle, until I get another, for comparison to new purchases.
The oak and smokiness come through more in the taste than the smell. It holds up well against other rums at this price point, and is definitely not one to waste with coke, but there are better sippers out there if you're willing to pay for them.

For above average rum - not, sweet, goes down nicely without after burn and an attractive bouquet. Well done Mount Gay.

Nice Ron, I can feel the taste of bourbon. Tasted Ron in Ostrava City, On the concert of Czech capela Komunal. Ron has a good body, nice colour.taste sweet. I am happy to drink it.

Lots of oak, no added sugar (or, at least, just a tiny littel bit) - both in the nose and on the tongue. Unfortunately not very lasting on the palate. But quite recommendable if you are not into sweet things.

K tomuto rumu mě přivedla reklama a jeho skvělí příběh s nejstarší palírnou rumu na světě. Kvalita tu je nezpochybnitelná, pro mě, jako pro neznalého amatéra, je tento rum možná příliš "raw". Ochutnáváním dalších rumů, začíná u mě postupně stoupat.
