Mount Gay 1703 rum includes rums aged between 10 and 30 years that are joined by master distiller Allen Smith.
Mount Gay Distilleries is the oldest operating distillery in the Americas - producing rum in Barbados since 1703, hence the rum's name. It's original name was Mount Gilboa, and in 1801 renamed Mount Gay after the distillery's manager Sir John Gay Alleyne.

Another level of Mount Gay, much better than XO. Excelent texture and finish, a lot of flavor in palatin. Good job Mount Gay.
This amazing piece of rum craftsmanship represents everything I expect from a snobby rich expensive premium rum. It has a nose of vanilla, caramel, oak and slight notes of smoke and fruit. The palate clearly balances between vanilla, smoke and wood while the finish moves into the fruity direction. 9/10, would bang.
I like the bottle but for the price, it could be better. The color is rich, slightly amber. Smells of fruit dominate my nose, this transitions into flavor. It slightly balances out with a oak and vanilla finish. Very smooth, not much burn. The aftertaste lingers for a while. It's definitely a sipping rum. I think it's definitely overpriced, but it's still very good stuff.
Well, unlike most of the Rums, this one actually was much better than it smelled.
It has a nose that reminded me of a Single malt I have. The Glenfarclas 21y. A sort of earthy smell, almost as if it had turned bad. Let it breathe a while and the sweet is going to take over the first impression. Still on the nose a fairly low amount of alcohol...
In the mouth, not much to say, it s not far away from certain single malts, I think of Auchetochan Three woods, for example.
The aftertaste is long, bitter behind the tongue. I would say it s quite balanced, not too sweet, just tasty, subtle, rich, delicate. I see why people would give it a 9. But it's not truly a fantastic choice for me, so I give it an 8.
Its has a sweet taste to it and a very long after taste
Have bought bottles of this in each of the last two years I've been to Barbados and it's one of the smoothest rums I've ever had
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
