Dominican Republic | Aged | 40% ABV
Matusalem Gran Reserva 15-year rum is produced using a combination of rums aged on average 15 years and distilled from molasses using the solera process.
The Matusalem company was established in 1872 originally in Santiago de Cuba. The company fled the country following the Cuban Revolution in 1959 and the Gran Reserva rum is now produced in the Dominican Republic.

Perfectly fine rum, can be sipped but needs old fashioned to really make it work
Not bad but there are tastier choices in that price range.
Classic brand of rum. For me similar to younger Matusalem Clasico. For the price thee are better choices, e.g. Diplomatico or Punta Cana.
Personally i really do not like the strong ethanolish taste... but there is a hope!
Few things i found out:
1) Do not let it breath. Longer it sits, stroger is the ethanol taste.
2) When you smell it, it smells really nice... also, first moments when it touches your tongue are not bad but there is nothing special... nothing saying MOAR PLEASE.
3) If you let it in your mouth for too long, it is like cinnamon challange.
4) Too pricy to mix it with Coke.
Smooth and very well blended.
"The aftertaste is quite spicy and hot. Not in an alcohol burn way."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This is not a bad rum but lacks depth, taste and a full body for its price. If this was a $20 rum it would be an easy 8 but for $40 it's just not a good value as there are so many better rum available at that price. Very good with Coke, okay on the rocks but very thin and not overly complex. Save your money for something else..
