Kraken Black Spiced

Kraken has one of the best marketing among rum companies. The bottle is awesome but the color of the liquid suggests addition of caramel (I've seen some google searches asking if it contains squid ink- it doesn't). To my disappointed I noticed that the word "rum" appears nowhere on the bottle label.
Flat aroma with a lot of carmel and some mild spirit hints. Mouth feel composed only from sugar and spirit and the whole sensation disappears in seconds. Disappointing. Even after letting it breathe for over 15 minutes I didn't notice any new taste or aroma.
This rum is not off-putting, it is just absolutely dull.

Interesting and quiet unique. Drank on its own pleasantly.

Right now this is my go to for a good mixed drink.

Kraken isn't a bad rum, but even by spiced rum standards I find it cloyingly sweet. It works in a punch or any recipe that calls for spiced rum but it's not something I want to stock regularly.

Oh, i do love having this in my cola. It adds this amazing vanilla note. I do this without ice and with a little stir.

Good taste, nice aroma, i like the 47% alcohol. Definitely something that you need to try.

I tried this too early in my rum journey. As I am new to distilled spirits, it was way to strong for me. BUT, after trying different rums, and learning to pick out different nuances, I can see where this might go up in ratings for me. I will try again.

Kraken is the rum in which I draw the line of mixing or drinking neat.

The Kraken can be drunk neat but it does hit a little hard hence why it’s also appropriate to mix.

The flavour of Kraken is certainly its selling point and for the price I’ve found is often a fond rum of those who like rum but aren’t willing to fork out a pretty penny to explore the rum market.

This is one of the better spiced rums on the market but for me it is treacly and over sweet and I just can't taste the rum, it's completely masked by the other flavours.
