Trinidad and Tobago | Spiced | 40% ABV | Column Still (1-4)
Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

On the rum fondness scale I would say Spiced and Dark rum are pretty much at the bottom of my pile. Having said that, this bottle blew my mind and expectations away and has completely changed my perceptions about (mostly) the spiced category. I was so impressed.
It is okay product but not my cup of tea (or rather rum). Absolutely there is too much marketing glorification over actual quality. I think it is too sweet. It may work well in some other drinks as mixer but would be bad choice for Cuba libre.
No idea why this is so highly rated, to me it did not taste of rum at all, when compared with a similarly priced Appleton estate dark, it’s a joke.
Takes me back to my first metaldays. Don't mix this, it has so much to offer. Very warm, not too much alcohol taste. A bit on a sweeter side, which I understand a lot of people don't appreciate, but I like it. The spices are nicely chosen. A little fruity.
Not bad for spice rum as I prefer flavour rum drank at Wetherspoon mixed with Pepsi max
A smooth rum with a good aftertaste. A nice aroma, a good drink to have neat, on ice or with a mix. If you’re struggling to choose a rum this wont disappoint. A must have for the cabinet
This rum is rather sweet and ovrspiced. Not my sort of drink.
A caramel/treacley heavy molasses like smell. .
"There is nothing subtle about the spicing and the caramel flavour makes the rum, to my taste overly sweet."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

You can really taste the molasses and chocolate in this one, really good!
