Kraken Black Spiced Rum was first introduced by Proximo Spirits in 2010 . The dark rum is infused with 11 “secret” spices, caramel and other natural flavors.
The rum gets its name after the mythical sea creature 'The Kraken'. As legend has it, this terrifying creature attacked ships at sea during the 18th and 19th centuries - possibly for all the rum on board.

Tried this one and I will not buy it for some time.
Nice and sweet, doesn't feel like you're drinking alcohol!
Looks great and an excellent mixer with dry or coke. Very vanilla and sweet tasting when neat. Would recommend if you have a sweet tooth.

Really difficult rum to drink, don't drink anything but water before you start this rum. and take the time to let the flavors and spices find their way, you really need to learn to drink this, and still then it could be not you're taste.
I am new to run but I really enjoy this. That said all I have tried is Cpt Morgan Dark Rum, Cpt Morgan Spiced Gold (Yuk!!!!) and Kraken!
A so so spiced rum with a bold but limited palate. Best used as a substitute for a traditional dark rum with a twist. Mixes will with Coke but looses it with a Sprite or other soda.
it's fair compared to cruzan blackstrap, it's just not as smooth or flavorful. Cruzan is superior for about the same money and equal volume
This rum has a very good and sweet flavour but nothing special in it. You won’t be offended but neither will you be delighted. Classy middle

One of my fav Black Spiced Rums, its not ideally a sipping rum. I leave that to a nice bottle of Diplomatico Reserve or El Dorado 15+ which are also common to find on store shelves. Kraken has a much harsher taste, and is best reserved for mixed drinks. For some reason I like it, but I treat it differently than a regular rum. Its something else.
