the color is not natural, really dark reddish ... nose: strong alcohol burn (not well aged rum), surprised that is not so sweet (remember the cloyingly sweet reserva exclusiva), but in the mouth not much flavors develop (can t call this a sipper), i bought a rum for cola rum at 26,50 euro wow (it made me a so so rum cola, nothing special) ... shelves invaded by very popular south American rum (almost all sugar added, it was the local Kaufland supermarket), almost nothing from Caribbean or other places, here you must search a specialized store to buy some real sipper ... only rums that i can save there the Botran (light, 8, 12) and the Hechicera 21 (available form this summer at good 40 euros)
conclusion: here you can t make yourself a culture in fact of rum by buying in a supermarket, go ta a specialized store (and pray that the sellers know something about it) or better: find a good bar with large assortment and ask guys there (this is also difficult here)
I think this is a good rum. Mixed it up with the basic ingredients for a Planter’s Punch (one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak) and found it to be surprisingly good.
Smells vaguely of orange and clove, and at first sip you get a little orange peel, but then mostly very burnt brown sugar.
I don't know that I'd buy it again, but it stands out as very different
Fairly sweet with some strong alcohol flavours, cheaper than Gran Reserva and not as good
The smell of vanilla. Caramel flavor. Sweet, but not disturbingly so. Unlike Reserva, it has quite a strong alcohol taste. I prefer the green bottle.
It reminds me a lot of the Reserva Exclusiva, but its just not as good. I find it great value for the money, but not something I would sip on an entire evening. Its not bad, but there is many other options I would prefer. Maybe not in its priceclass, but just a step up, like the bigger borther Res Exclu. Its not as smooth as the Re Exclu, nor is it as clear in its taste but it is absolutely an overall good rum.
It’s sweet with scents of brazil nuts and some butteryness like shortbread. .
"Overall it is a sweet rum. There is a little spice on the palate and a tiny slither of oak. The finish has a little coffee and a touch of caramel. It is smooth and very easy to drink."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I tried this once because the bar I was in didn't have the Reserva. It's ok - not a bad rum, but I think once you've had the Reserva there's no going back to this one. It is cheaper, so if that's a factor then this might be a decent substitute, but it's not as smooth and not as well balanced. If find it to be a little spicier and harsher both in the mouth and on the finish. It's worth the extra $10 or so to get the Reserva instead.
