Diplomatico Mantuano

It's okeish rum, but there is a dozen of better rums in this price range

I saw this on the shelf and though why not? I am so glad I did. This compares very nicely with Pampero Anniversario which is one of my favorites.

I can only state, if you like Diplomatico, you will like it, as in my liking it comes close to the regular Reserva.

Best rum for cocktails, that's how I see it. Excellent flavor but lacks body.

This is not as soft and sweet as Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva but it is still very decent and affordable. It's well worth the try. It is fairly comparable to Mt. Gay but less harsh. Snag it if you find it.

On the nose you will find vanilla, oak and a very little sweetness. Small amount of sugar is included, however it's not annoying. Again vanilla and caramel notes in the mouth. A little burn at the end, but it's very smooth and balanced. It's ok for sipping. If there is a sale i will take another bottle again.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 4/9/19. Pours a dark ruby color. An explosion of metallic flavor but has a very smooth and nice palate. A passable rum with nothing to overtly complain about. I'd call this a workman's rum. Perhaps a real good mixer to support another spirit.

My first bottle seemed decent but 2nd time around it tasted well above that. Sweet but not overly so and warm without oppressive heat. Will stay on my sipping list.
