El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Probably my second favorite rum I've tried right behind diplomatico reserva. Very smooth
I dont understand how 12 and 15 can be so different. Love 12, would drink it almost any time... Need to be in mood for 15. Why? No idea... Does it make the rum better or worse? No idea...
Nice, but not great. I was expecting so much more. The plantation 20 year is still my favorite.
Always a favourite and the run against which I judge all others. Only the fact I'm writing this years later, having tasted many more and being blown away by the 12 makes it an 8.
A sweet and easy rum (hardly alcohol burn). Main taste of oak. Also some lemon, dried fuit, caramel. Overall a thick and sticky taste.
Tres bon. Plus travaillé que son petit frere. J aime beaucoup
Here we have a very nice and easy going rum. On the sweet side, but still nicely balanced.
The 15 was a great bottle that everyone seemed to like. It is good on the rocks, straight up and even mixing.
I would mix the 12 first and the 21 is only for sipping (straight or on Ice). I tried mixing the 21 for the hell of it and did not like it that way? That was a first.
We started a big Rum tasting on new years of 2016 and still going strong. 3 to 5 bottle get togethers every 4 to 6 weeks. About to wind it down, it has been a load of fun and discovery. Of course the grand tasting will be this fall with all the open bottles.
Hard to go wrong with this bottle. Enjoy!
Taste of fruits, vanilla, spices, tobacco, wood and later with a long and drier finish. A stronger taste of alcohol.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Just drank the 21 year old. Read a review that preferred the 15 year old and I agree. The 15 year old doesn't have as strong taste of alcohol and has a fuller body than the 21. Good stuff!
