El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year

JA
had this rum recently

Guyana | Aged | 43% ABV

El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.

The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

Ron zacapa 23 solera was my favorite up until this bottle. Maybe Cause they taste so similar to me, This one is just a little bit more round and smooth. I'm surprised by the people that say the 12 year is better, while the 12 year is delicious this bottle is more complex and smoother to me. I find myself keeping it in my mouth for a few seconds longer just enjoying the taste on my tongue.

I thought I would prefer this to the 12 year (just because it was aged longer) however it has a dryer and less sweet taste than the 12 year (I was told by the El Dorado rep at Rum Fest Manchester, that the 15 and 21 year were made to be closer to a whisky finish)
Still it has wonderful a flavour.

Szép kerek, kicsit sok a hordó rátelepszik a többi ízre. Inkább csak más mint az El Dorado 12, nem jobb.

I love El Dorado and have spent many a days and nights relaxing with a glass of this in my hand. One of the best i have ever had. Well worth the money and better than a lot of more expensive bottles.

I tried like hell to like this, and it came highly reviewed...but I really cant. It has no depth or flavor to speak of for me, which is unfortunate. I tried it neat, over ice, right out of the bottle and I let it open up some...just nothing on the flavor profile that makes me want to go back.

Very smooth and wonderful caramel nose but a little thin in flavor for me. Initial sip was encouraging but through a real seating it just never brought me to "Wow, that's a great Rum

Den havde fået mange rosende ord, så det var med stor spænding den blev købt og åbnet og jeg må nok sige at den ikke bliver en af mine favoritter. Prøvet men glemt.

This is a great tasting rum. I am not sure if it's worth the extra money compared the the 12 year but I would recommend it to anyone.

Dark mahogany. Hints of coffee. Light on palate and medium aftertaste

On the first touch of your palate there is a hefty warmth, almost to the ilk of a spiced rum. Unbelievably smooth oaky flavors fill the body and wash through to a vanilla, almost nougety finish. I've drank the 12 year for awhile now, and this is a significant step up. Very impressed. My rating is a little lower based on preference, but this is definitely a top tier rum.
