El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum is crafted from 15 to 25 year old rums that are then blended and married together in bourbon oak casks. Prior to blending the original batches are distilled using 4 unique stills - the Enmore and Diamond Coffey stills, the Port Mourant double wooden pot still, and the Versailles single wooden pot still.
The bottle of El Dorado Special Reserve 15-year was inspired by the the old hand-blown flasks used by sugar planters on the banks of the Demerara river.

This is a great drink and perfect for an introduction to decent rum. It's not heavy in the sweet side like a diplomatic or zacapa and has a bite to the tounge that is short and smooth. Saying that it is a great sipper and does have smooth and subtley sweet fruity notes.
Great English style rum from the Demerara river! Keen to give the 21 years a go for comparison.
My first love in the world of ron. Will never forget it, especially because I'll never stop drinking it.
Very smooth with notes of caramel, chocolate, port wine, and raisins
Ok follow me...this a whiskey finish but very smooth. Not pillar maple finish, but more of a whiskey oak cask aged finish. Very good rum!
Un rhum très , bon , d une excellente douceur pas trop épicé
I have explored the El dorado line from 8,12 and 15 years. I must disagree with those who put the 12 year on equal footing with the 15. The nose on the 15 is fantastic, and the taste has a richness and a lingering brown sugar candy finish that contrasts dramatically with the ethanol notes of the 12. My wife doesn't care much for Rum, but one sniff and sip of this led her to put it on par with her beloved 12-18 year single malts. At under $50 CND an unbeatable bargain of a sipper.
Un bon rhum où le sens les essences de prune cane à sucre et vanille. Mais je le trouve moin doux qu'un diplomatico reserva ou un Plantation XO. Ça ne lui enlève rien car tout est une question de goût...
Man, this is good ! Long and tasty. Mais bon dieu pourquoi j'écris en anglais ?.... C'est très bon, pour le prix ça le fait.
C'est gourmand t'sais.
While new to rum ratings, this is an absolute delight in the rocks. It has a very smooth yet evolving taste.
Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate...
"El Dorado Special Reserve 15-Year rum review by Mike at Ultimate Rum Guide"
Has more oak and chocolate notes.
"It is initially very sweet, apples, bananas and rum soaked raisins but there are also some bittersweet plum like notes. The finish is spicy and fruity and long lasting."

Good rum to sip on or mix with cola or juice, rich taste and smooth finish. I bought for $28, but worth at least $30 to $35. Once you get in the $35 range, you’re better off with some higher in class and alcohol.
