El Dorado 12-Year rum

El Dorado 12-Year

Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still

El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.

Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Whenever my exploration of rums from all over the world hits a roadblock for whatever reason this is what I'll get to remind myself what my journey's all about. El Dorado 12 is a pleasantly aromatic spirit with a hint of leather on the back end and zero to complain about. This is a delicious rum whether neat or with a mixer and never fails to please; I imagine it'll be good for both beginners and seasoned rum enthusiast alike. In fact I'd say that the *only* problem with the El Dorado 12 is the existence of the El Dorado 15! ;-)

Good taste to it, probably could drink straight. Need to try mix drink

Flavoursome and a long taste finish a tad sweet for my palate

Buon rum ad un prezzo onesto. Per i miei gusti però troppo dolciastro.

Very disappointed in this rum. Tasting after
enjoying Real McCoy 5 year old which I give a solid 8.
This rum taste and looks artificial. Too much caramel coloring along with taste. As a mixer alright, drinking straight no way!
Much rather spend my money on Godlings Black Seal which has more character than this.

Bought this as the same time as Diplomatico and though both are definitely good rums this was slightly behind the Venezuelan rum.

Good for taking the edge off after a long day. Great straight or for a fancy mixer.

A solid thicker more involving rum. Sweeter and a bit lighter (but more vibrant) on the nose than the 15, but with less oak, more fruit and a bit of an aftertaste. N: thicker molasses, sweet. T/F: sweeter, mid-spicy, ends sweet if a tad bit flat

This was great so easy to drink . I nearly could just drink straight from the bottle

Surprised to find this better than the 15. Suspiciously smooth, but I didn’t look into that - like what you like. Fruit and honey. Minimal punch. Light heat. More complex than just barrel notes.
