Guyana | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still
El Dorado 12-Year Rum is composed of a blend of aged rums, all at least 12 years old. The rums are distilled using a combination of stills including coffey stills and a double wooden pot still before being aged in bourbon oak casks.
Demerara Distillers of Guyana produces El Dorado 12-year rum and is the country's last remaining distillery, with origins tracing back to 1670. The name ""El Dorado"" references the legendary city of gold that is said to be in the country's Rupununi region.

Sweet rum. Really sweet. Don't get me wrong I am not putting it down. I did rate it a 7 after all as I did their 15 year. Drinking neat is almost too much sweetness for me so adding ice helped a lot and really saved it for me as far as the ratings went. Ice really helped mellow it and bring out some nice flavor. Would recommend more than the 15 year as much cheaper and overall would recommend as it is a really nice rum just be in the mood for a sweet rum when you are drinking or reviewing or else it may not be given a fair shot.
Easy to enjoy anywhere with anything, well rounded with excellent depth
Good overall sipping rum. Nothing too fancy but can't miss buy.
A standard on my bar shelf, excellent rum for mixing and sipping on ice. Smooth, slightly sweet, with vanilla notes.
I find this my go-to sipping rum. The price is low enough not to feel guilty about sipping it, but the taste is smooth and flows over the tongue.
This is an enjoyable rum, especially after a nice dinner. Great flavours like dried red fruit, raisins, vanilla, caramel and a light hint of oak. Sweet, but in a good way, not too sweet.
First tasted at the Palace Cafe in New Orleans. I'll fight anyone who doesn't like this rum. Ruby red color. Butterscotch and anise to the aroma. The balance of pepper-alcohol-honey sweetness is near perfect to my tastes. Plus, this remains a crazy great price by comparison to the longer aged offerings by Diamond.
Lush tropical fruit and spice nose with hints of honey and dark sugar...

It’s sweeter with more delicate fruit flavours coming to the fore.
"It’s very sweet and quite light. It’s very easy drinking. As a sipping rum it as easy to drink."

Tried it, tasted like added sugar, still good for cocktails
