Aroma: sweet scents especially pineapple, some citrus fruits and some coconut, in the backround I noticed unpleasant scent of alcohol.

Taste: bit sharper at the beggining (but nothing horrible), pineapple flavor with a good gentle finish.

Overall: I think this rum in its price range is good choice when you want to try something new, but you do not want to pay big money for the bottle (30-35€). I think it will be a good rum to use in some summer coctails, but overall I think there is much more better bottles.

Sample from rum calendar. Interesting nose, not bad at all for young rum.

Ve vůni je cherry a ananas
Chuť je sladká na začátku, následně ostrá a více alkoholová

Nose: Very strong toffee (think Werther’s Original)
Mouth: Delivers on the toffee on both the attack and the palate.
Finish: Like most Venezuelan’s I’ve tried it dissipates so fast you barely remember it was ever there.

I am not a fan of Venezuelan rums. I find they dissipate too quickly and are at core rather generic and uninteresting. However, I must admit this one was better than I expected. I have had far worse light rums than this. In cocktails where I wanted my rum in the background while letting other flavors shine this would work wonders. I also appreciate that this thing is probably not dosed up and sugared like many other Venezuelans, for sure at least not as much as Diplomatico.

First time trying Carupano and was pleasantly surprised. Smells like butterscotch. Tastes like butter scotch with a finish of banana mint. Not sure Ive tasted a rum this interesting before. Would drink again and try their other offerings.

Immediately I felt vanilla, like don papa, but far less sweet, very delicate. Finally something new and different. Finally an above-average rum that is worth something.

The taste is quite nice and rather on the non-sweet side, with a dry finish. The smell, however, is too faint and indistinct, which is a shame for any rum. Based on tasting a 2cl sample.
