Another reviewer brought these rums to my attention and they are finally available at one of my favorite liquor stores today. My bottle does not look anything at all like the one in the picture. It is tall and skinny with a flat black surface coloring. I cannot even see what is inside of it. This was a good $30 gamble. The plastic cap did not appear to be attached very well to the rest of the bottle, so if I wound up with a bottle of tainted booze that has been turning up in the Dominican Republic, it's been a nice ride in this life. Naaah! I am tough as nails!
It is obviously a dry rum and it is a solera 12, so not much of the 12 year is found in this one. I agree with the tasting notes of caramel and almond, but any other notes is stretching things a bit. It has no aroma at all and very little burn. It won't offend nor will it excite. I rate it as a high 6.
As you can see from the enclosed picture, I am now gearing up for a MAJOR concert tour!!!!
I compare this with a lot 12 years old rums... this, is the strongest of all, very heavy body and strong entrance... in 2016 was the best 12 year rum in world in 12 years aged category, highly recommended
Its a nice rum to drink with a coke a little strong for sipping
Buen ron muy versatil para degustar desde cocteles hasta a las rocas muy buena opción
the taste color and aroma are just perfect for a young rum
My first try was almost my last. A lot of alcohol in the aftertaste and nothing deep. However, having saved half a bottle for some time really helped the rum. It had gotten darker and the flavours opened up nicely
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Burn on the nose, bitter dry and rancid taste, unpleasant finish like tire rubber
