Please input the URL directly to the vendor page with the rum for sale and we will automatically show it on RumRatings
Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Is it rum or is it sherry ?
If they said to me that they mixed 50 % of rum with 50 % of px sherry, I would believe it. :-)
Lucky for me i also like PX sherry alot.
This is really sweet stuff and i like it. Although the diplomatico reserva exclusiva is much better (more rum taste)
this rum comes in parts from barbados and in parts from guyana. two bold rums in the mix. 3 years in oloroso casks and 2 years in p.x. casks. this makes a very deep rum with heavy notes of sherry, raisins and chocolate. good for beginners with the right amount of sweetness and creamy body.
this rum presents itself as something luxurious and extraordinary but it is on no par with the Plantation rums, which also undergo double ageing in South America and then in Europe.
Dos Maderas is sweet, smooth and cherry, but the sweetness i deterct is that of the added sugar not that of the PX wine.
Certainly not a bad rum but i expected way more given the price and hype
This tastes like Sherry with a harsh alcohol taste. I somehow prefer the cheaper version of this rum (2*4 or sth) this this one is more able to combine the taste of Sherry and Rum.
My son brought this rum for a taste. Smooth and sweet taste, with a light caramel aftertaste. Perfekt rum for berginners.
Very pleasing in nose. Sherry casks work miracles. Nice story about the aging process, get your attention. If you want something aperitif like or you just are not in mood for something dry or harsh. This one will really caress your soul. Stepped out a bit from the taste stereotype of sweet smooth rums and thats what i love about this rum.
Rhum très original de part sa fabrication et qui est également très intéressant à découvrir. Beaucoup de rondeur mais avec suffisamment de puissance pour ne pas être écœurer. une bonne longueur en bouche et ce gout de café que j'affectionne.
Two drinks in one.
What starts out as a rum turns quickly into sherry. The experience is unusual but a tasty change from the norm. I just wish the rum flavour lasted longer, it's a delicious start which too quickly becomes sour sherry. Not as good as I was hoping, but treat it like its own genre and you should enjoy.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

This rum has a sugar of 36gpl, which tells you to expect a nice sweetness to it. The color is really nice. Nose is Smooth with sweet aromas of dried fruits, nice taste of oak, chocolate, and sherry. This rum needs to be let out of the bottle with 3 cubes of ice and let it breath. I immediately felt a quick burbon-cognac feel that will go away quickly and after some 20 mins that rich and warm palette will come to you and will stay with you.
Palette; has a smooth oiliness to it with some spicy oak, a nutty element, brown sugar and molasses. The nose continues in the flavors.
Finish; A medium finish where dried fruits, oak, brown sugar and molasses are the most prominent flavors. There is a hint of tobacco evident which makes it kind or special. I would rank it 7.5, but the chart does not allow me. I feel that 8 will be a tad high and it is because of is a hair on the too sweet side. It does not quite feel like strong presence of RUM, but it is a great buy.
