Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Bon rhum de degustation. On sent bien la chaleur de l'alcool..trop a mon gout...surprenant pour un rhum aussi sucrΓ©
I can enjoy this rum although I seem to miss Some body in it.
Enjoyable to drink straight.
A mouth full of raisins! That's it.
I can't believe this one got any 10 ratings at all. The only thing this rum is good for is baking. It's not a sipper and cuts through a glass of Coke like a raisin flavored chainsaw.
This rum proves that too much of a good thing can be bad...and its a $45 lesson.
Very happy to drink this type of original rum.
A quality rum but much heavier feel than most rums.
Tastes of prunes and caramel.
Nicely balanced, smooth, much flavour, but a bit too much sherry flavour for me. It's far better than the Dos maderas 5+3 but it's not really my style. I prefer dryier rums, more cuban or venezuelan rums. It surely is an excelent rum, I can apreciate that, smooth and complexity, probably many would score it even one point higher, but the sherry flavour is too intense for me. If you love rum and sherry, this is your rum
Nice Rum, Not very Sweet. You can Taste the years in The Sherry cask

Very dark burgundy color.
The initial taste (after aeration) is uber smooth and the sherry flavor hits like a truck.
This is quite an extraordinary experience. Possibly the most bang for y'r buck rum I know.
Don't hesitate to buy this!
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

In the moment, poured over a large cube of ice by a terrific bartender in Grand Cayman...well, I thought it was a fantastic deal. After arriving home and "shelling out" $45, plus shipping, I cannot get past the coffee aroma when I drink it neat or over a large USA ice cube. My palate is not sophisticated enough to describe it, but the coffee smell is overwhelming for me. I will pour it up for a neighbor and let them decide. A day in the sun at Grand Cayman can change your taste profile, i guess...
