Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

Smooth and sweet rum that still manages to have a good burn.
Dejlig Venezuela rom med sødme og smag. Har den selv i et giftset hvor hvert stadie af lagringen er med og her kan man også smage hvor lækker den er helt tilbage i grundformen
So far, I've only had the pleasure of drinking this once, so I will add to this note as I drink more. It tastes more or less exactly like I expected it too - a sweetish rum, maybe a bit like Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, but glowing with a sherry overtone. If you like sherry, as I do, that's wonderful, if you don't or are a rum purist, I'd guess you'd hate this stuff. It's certainly sweet and they have certainly added a fair bit of sugar here - but in any case PX sherry is off the scale in terms of sweetness (I can't thinbk of a sweeter drink off hand) and I think much of the sweetness here is a result of a last aging in PX sherry barrels as opposed to sugar.
It's a lovely wintery sipper. I'm not sure I'd want this in the hotter months. It's a decent price too - around about £40, which is ok for a quality rum.
Later Note - I decided to buy a whole bottle, and I am not disappointed. Tastes better than I remember - very lip-smackingly tasty!
Good this is stupid if I want to type something I will if not don't force me
This was my first sherry type rum. And is worth to buy!!!
Aroma: nice fruit aroma with wooden finish. Very pleasant smell, no bad smells, very exclusive.
Taste: sweet, sherry/fruity, wooden aftertaste. Taste is similar to smell.
You wont believe this has 40%.
It's not bad at all, but not my cup of rum. Too much sherry for me.
Hodně zajímavý kousek, který se nepodobá ničemu, co jsem zatím ochutnal.
Suchý s výraznou chuti po sherry
Easy to drink on its own. Good sipping rum. Had with a little ice only
Smells like brown sugar. Not too sweet. Not a bad sipping rum.
Rich, plump raisins dominate the palate.
"Quite drying on the palate so the mid palate. A slight oakiness and a little touch of the oak barrel."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
