Dos Maderas PX 5 + 5 rum is made from a combination of rums from Barbados and Guyana. It is unique becuase of its triple ageding process where for 5 initial years the rum is aged in the Carribean in oak casks. Next PX 5 + 5 is aged in Spain for 5 years in sherry casks, and lastly for 2 more years in even older sherry casks.
The Dos Maderas family of rums are produced by Bodegas Williams & Humbert, which is a well known Spanish winery founded by Sir Alexander Williams in the late 1800s. The region of Spain where the winery is located has a climate perfectly suited for wine and is known as Europe's wine cellar.

I love the story of this rum. The name, "Dos Maderas" is Spanish for "Two Woods" because the rum is aged it two different types of barrels. It is first aged in oak barrels in the Caribean for 5 years, then shipped to Spain and transferred to sherry casks for further aging. The resulting rum could be characterized as sweet with a lot of sherry and oak coming together with the rum.
I first poured it neat. It has a rich coffee color and a slightly oily surface. It smells of chocolate and honey with just a little burn in the nose. The fist sip surrounds the tongue with a rich sweetness and a little pepper in the back of the throat. It warms the chest as it goes down, like a warm brandy.
I then added an ice cube, but it didn't need it. It may go down a bit faster this way, but in the future the only thing I will pair with this rum is a good cigar and/or good company.

Vyborny rum. Jemny so sladkou chutou a vonou. Momentalne moj oblubeny rum (mam uz 3tiu flasu za posledny mesiac). Flaska sa sa zohnat za 30eur co je skvela cena.
The wine notes really come through in this excellently smooth sipper. Certainly in my top 3 picks.
Sampled Don Maderas PX 5+5 and found it to be very sweet, so sweet in fact (36 gsl) that I couldn’t even taste the alcohol. Not for me!
Nice deep body, exceptionally smooth but not a true rum. Does great chilled, mixed, or on its own. If you’re looking for a unique take on rum, this is a good one for that purpose.

This produces a unique flavor with sherry overtones. Like it but prefer longer aged run in oak
Lidt sød, men lækker smag. Kan serveres til de fleste.
Čakal som trochu viac.
Farba podľa očakávania krásna hnedá, no po prvom ovonaní som čakal viac. Na môj vkus dosť veľa alkoholu čo sa mierne zmenilo po 15 min. Vôňa mierne sladšia, nie korenistá skôr intenzívna po alkohole.
Chuť vcelku príjemná, drevitá, na konci sladšia po sherry, niečo ako 5putnový tokaj s väčším obj. alkoholu.

This comes in a decent bottle. The rum has a nice red to brown colour and a typical aged rum aroma, but with quite fruity hints. It tastes of wood and vanilla with raisins and other dried fruits. The taste of wine or port wine/sherry is quite present in this rum. It is medium sweet with some hints of alcohol crispness.
