A nice sweetened and smooth rum. Some people say it isnt a rum, but it is... A really nice one, with hints of vanilla, banana, caramel.
Stáva sa z neho už masovka, ale v pomere cena/kvalita ho radím vysoko.
Nose: Sweet, caramel, oak, banana. Moderate alcohol sting.
Palate: Very sweet, almost syrupy flavor. Vanilla and caramel, a little oak and some wintery spices (clove, cinnamon)
Tail: Moderate alcohol burn, remnants of the caramel flavor from the palate and a strong "rum" flavor. The rum flavor and alcohol burn stick on the tongue for a while.
Overall, this rum is too sweet and syrupy for me, and lacks the complexity underneath to support its sweetness. I'm not necessarily against rums with added sugar - in small amounts it can definitely enhance a rum's character - but I think that this rum is sweetened far more than it has to be. It might serve well as a dessert drink, similar to some liqueurs like amaretto.
Spicy and complex rum, with a balenced sweetness.
Overall very pleasent
I can see why this is so highly rated, it is smooth with a subtle sweetness. Easy to drink with a full backend. However, for me, I like a little more burn and bite in my sipping rums.
Good but expected more. Some of the other, cheaper Diplomatico have better flavour.
It's like classical music with wonderful instrumentation. Layers of notes some of them long delayed melting in to chords creating erotic harmonies. The music of Claudio Monteverdi comes to mind. Yes there are sweet fruit notes and oak and this and that but that is not enough to describe this gem. I wanted to say how I feel drinking it.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."
