Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva rum is distilled from molasses in copper pot stills and then aged in small oak casks for on average 12 years before being bottled.
Produced in Venezuela, which has a rich rum history dating to 1896, the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva distillery is located on the northern slopes of the Andes mountains.

Smakar riktigt fint. Rullar bak och ner i gommen likt en sån där lådbil man byggde i unga dar. ”Jag fick bilen i hövve”
This rum is great for any day or opportunity, its sweeter than other rums in my opinion.
Uncomfortably strong, A bit of a burn going down not a good aftertaste
Not a bad rum. Easy to drink, and satisfying if you’re limited on options. Far better than the entry level Havana Club offerings at the bar, but pretty standard flavor profile.
I describe it as molasses, cal bit of caramel and something darker. Burnt sugar perhaps. Feels like a rum trying to be more important than it is, but likable nonetheless.
Not sure if ever buy a bottle for myself, as it’s pretty one dimensional, but a good option at the bar!
I do like diplomatic but this one I find a bit to sweet, I prefer their other rum
Diplomatico Reserva - just the green one. Great taste, Very smooth
Very good rum for a reasonable price. Also easy to find
In the nose I gather a rum raisin ice cream scent, sweet aromas of brown sugar and caramel.
On the palette it’s complex with all of the above flavors seeping through in each tiny sip.
I enjoy it on the rocks and in an Old Fashioned. My personal recipe is:
2 oz. Rum-Diplomatico Exclusive Reserve
1/2 teaspoon Coconut Syrup (I make my own)
2 dashes of Chocolate Bitter Angostura
Add a splash of soda water or plain water if you need to tame it. Or, simply sip as the ice melts and enjoy the changing flavors as they are slowly revealed.
This is my go-to relaxer after a hard days work.
Not too sweet, but sweet enough. Bit of caramel but nothing over the top. I like it.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label
