Everything you want in a sipping rum. Sweet, caramel, vanilla, toffee with very little burn.
Tastes like it smells, lots of caramel, vanilla, coffee notes. If it was a touch less sweet it would be absolutely perfect.
Ich habe durch den Diplo gelernt Rum zu lieben und liebe diesen Rum immer noch. Süffig, süss, aber nicht zu süss.
So the clerk tells me, "drinking the good stuff today" and I'm feeling pretty good. Unfortunately I thought it tasted too much like menthol. Like a really good cough syrup. Disappointed that this country mate wasn't more like Pampero. The search continues.
A very good rum. Very round strong tastes of vanilla and caramel.
I couldn't believe this is a serious sipping rum after seeing the price tag. The first time the sweetness hit me like a mattress to the face. After drinking it a couple of times I'm getting acquainted with the taste and start to like it.
Needs ice.
Smooth to say the least, just an enjoyable flavor not to floral and just the right hint of caramel with defined but not an intrusive sweetness.
Very soft, easy to drink but quite complex if you want to get closer to the rum's world.
Chocolate and caramel are too intense (IMHO).
A very good taste keeps in the throat
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

At first sip might seem like a very sweet rum, but after a few seconds, is however very well balanced. Main tastes are oak, vanilla, hazelnuts and caramel. Perfect tasting a good piece of black chocolate.
At the same price I prefer Havana Club Seleccion de Maestros, but is only my preference...as we all know, tastes differ. Great Venezuelan aged, highly recommended...love it!
