Great sipper, very smooth rum. Great for An evening in the sun
This is my first sipping rum. It’s sweet, but not as sweet as a liqueur. It’s very smooth and has only a little burn. I imagine moving toward less sweet rums as time passes, but this is a nice one to start and share with guests.
Very disappointed with this, glad I tried my brothers bottle before buying one for myself. I’d read many reviews on this site and in most cases I agree with majority but in this case either peeps are drinking something different to me or they like sugary sweet rums. As one poster put it this is more like a sweet rum liquor rather than a good mid point rum. I expected some sweetness and something similar to el dorado 12, how wrong could I be, I found it neither enjoyable or pleasant, left most of it the glass. People obviously enjoy this rum and that’s what makes us all different and helps the world spin, but it’s a big no from me.
Finding this rum was like hens teeth. I can see why. Such a great flavor and good to drink on the rocks
One of the sweetest rums I've ever had, very good flavour.
When I first tasted this rum I liked it much better than after multiple outings. It has a very pleasant smooth nose, with hints of caramel, toffee and vanilla. The initial tasting is similar, very warm on the palette with undertones of oak, citrus and raisins. The complexity and warmth are seductive, especially at this price point. This is strictly a sipping rum, or with an ice cube to open it up a bit, or in a simple rum forward old fashioned.
My only problem, is, over time and as my rum palette continues to evolve this has become too sweet for me, even as a sipper. I have moved on too less sweet, dryer style rums. My wife still likes this, but even she says the sweetness has become cloying sometimes. My initial tasting would have given this a solid 8 but for now I feel confident a 6 is fair. If you like very sweet rums like Kirk and Sweeney or Papas Pillar, you will probably like this.
Flavor is too sweet and syrupy for me. I won’t buy this again. I’ll mix it with some lime juice and ginger beer.
This is the smoothest rum of them all. To be that smooth it is necessarily on the sweet side, so if you don't like that you may not consider it 10/10. That being said, the smoothness isn't just from the sugar, other sweet ones are way harsher - it's just a damn good rum
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I had a bottle of diplomatico RE gifted a year ago. It tastes “good” only because of the insane level of added sugars (30 g/L) which make it smooth.
Caramel flavor and taste covers everything else (if there is something else).
This should have been a 5 by tasting it.
By the way I gave it a 6 because for what you pay (in Italy you can easily found it under 30€) this is not that bad if you like added sugars rum.
