Bruine rum, zachte smaak. Lichte vanille en zoethout. Lekker
Easy and smooth for sipping. Pretty light and overall enjoyable.
An early purchase, this rum was thoroughly enjoyable both straight and mixed. This sounds silly after reading all the press about this rum, but it never struck me as overpoweringly sweet - merely smooth and eminently drinkable. The flavors here are more reminiscent of baked goods and gentle sweet spices than fruit.
It's surprisingly mild, and the lack of stronger flavor might be about the only thing that holds me back from thinking higher of it.
It is just a great drink. Easy on the tongue. Sweet vanilla all around. Dont't be surprised if you drink this bottle in one go. It's that easy going.
This makes a great after dinner sipper, a little sweet but easy on the palate and aged enough to take away most of the burn. I agree with some of the naysayers on it being sweet, but sometimes sweet is good. I won't go over the flavors, as they have been covered well in all the other reviews so I will just offer my humble opinion. If you enjoy a smooth, sweet rum, give it a try. If you want burn and dry, stay away. Great price too! I recommend.
First rum I liked sippin straight up. Before this just all the familiair cocktails. What a lovely smell, what a deep layered taste. I'm in the tropics, right on the beach. Sweetness, like sucking on fresh sugar cane, rasins drenched in sirup, thick although light in percentage. Come to think of it, could do fine with a bit more alcohol.
I am aware this drink is sugared and I am not a fan of additives in mine, like coloured whisky. However I do like it as it is and I will keep on liking it.
Now on to more, a new venture into the world of rums.
This was my first high quality sipper, and is still a gold standard for me. It has everything one would want from rum - sweetnes, complexity in taste, syrupiness, slight alcoholic burn...
Its a sipper so drink it neat; ice ruins its complexity, and mixing it is a cardinal sin
Edit in 2023 :
I got info that Brown‑Forman Corp. (owners of Jack Daniels) has bought Diplomatico, and that it has changed in taste since. Got a bottle to try it, and its true; its less syrupy, and more alcoholic now. It still has that Diplomatico taste, but its not the one that got me fall head over heels, so i take rating down for 1.
Clean taste. No bite at all. Straight up on ice is my preferred.
"The palate evokes chocolate sauce and the sweet toffee, fudge and tropical fruit flavours from the nose"
"The nose is dominated by notes of caramel, toffee and crème. On the back end of the aromas, I can detect a hint of smoke and pineapple"

Smells sweet. It is fruity, oranges, grapes and raisins with scents of chocolate and a sweet almost syrupy.
"The tasting notes on the site are very accurate vanilla, fudge/toffee sauce are noticeable as are notes of vanilla and a finish which is slightly bitter like cocoa which leaves a hit of oakiness on the taste buds. The finish is pretty short. ."

Just getting into rums, been a bourbon and whiskey guy my whole adult life. This is definitely sweet but man was it good with a nice cigar complementing it. Nice dark color and that green bottle is crazy cool.
